I had only been to Mother India once. It was very good but I wasn't as upset as other people were when it closed. But I was happy to hear that it was back. My sister and I went last night. She was a huge fan of Mother India. Inside the place hasn't changed much. Still very small. They also have seating outside which I'd like to try on a future visit. My sister is a vegetarian. She had the Vegetable Korma. I had the Shrimp Vindaloo. We split Stuffed Paratha and Garlic Naan. My sister said her Korma was really good. She can't tolerate green peppers so she had asked what vegetables were in the dish. Our server said she didn't know but she went to the kitchen and asked and she brought a sample to our table. My dish was delicious. The shrimp were huge prawns that weren't overcooked and it was nicely spiced. My only minor complaint was that there could have been a few more potato chunks in there. The Paratha was very good but the Naan was excellent! Very crispy and garlicky. Another minor complaint was that the bottled soda choices seem to depend on what the staff remembers to bring to the restaurant. I ended up drinking water because my first and second choices of soda weren't available. A big improvement is that you now pay at the table so there's not as much crowding at the front of the restaurant. If you're using a card, it will offer you tip options so you don't need to do math, lol. As I recall, there was 15%,18%, 20%, and 25%. I chose the 20% which was marked "Wow!". You can print your receipt or have it emailed which is a great feature. I will be...
Read moreI have been here a couple times and let me tell you. These wonderful human beings care about you and our Blackstone community. I hurt my legs pretty bad last week and hobbled from the bus station to them. They welcomed me by opening the door, making sure I was comfortable because of how hurt I was, helped elevate my leg (and iced it to), gave me complimentary pineapple water and after I couldn't bare the pain while trying to eat my dinner, packaged it up quickly, picked up my belongings and food quickly for me and escorted me to my ride for the hospital. The mother of the restaurant held me so I wouldn't fall and made sure I was ok top to bottom as well as the son and Santosh who makes the naan. Great food great people - literally made me feel like I was there own family member with how caring they were. If you're not coming here for great Indian cuisine your either crazy or stupid. You don't know what kind of service and heart these...
Read moreThis place has definitely had a nice makeover since Mother India occupied the building. The restuarant was clean, and the staff friendly. I think this might be the first week of this place being open, and overall I am happy to have another Indian restuarant in the area. The prices and food are pretty good, and I look forward to enjoying richer flavors as the chef settles in. I met the owner (I think his name was Antony) and he was very accommodating letting us know they could make any dish the way we desired. I appreciate this a lot, but my lack of knowledge surrounding Indian spices leaves me at a bit of a loss as to what exactly to ask for to amplify the flavors that I had fallen in love with at mother India. Overall the experience was nice and I will definitely be eating here again. Please bring back Mother India's...
