Just further proof that some of the best things in life come wrapped in white paper bags! I almost passed this place by, but was intrigued by the "Scottish Highland Burgers" subtext on the sign. I don't know if I have ever even thought about what a burger in the Scottish Highlands would taste like. The remaining text on the sign gives further clarification that it is grass-fed and locally raised. I got the "Giddy Up Burger", which is the standard quarter pound patty, topped with pastrami, melted swiss, grilled onions, sauerkraut and whole grain mustard, served up on a delightfully light and fluffy brioche bun. The absolute star of the show is the beef. It was hot and juicy, well seasoned, with just the very lightest hint of pink in the middle. The flavor is definitely that of locally raised, grass-fed beef from someone's ranch (the owners). Absolutely! Unbeatable! The burger, as a whole, is well constructed, and an absolute mess at the end, with grilled onions and pastrami trying to escape out the rear as I consumed it. I absolutely had to wash my hands after completing burger. The steady companion in the background are delicious, well seasoned fries. When asked whether I wanted handmade ketchup, or fry sauce, I responded both, and I was not wrong. The handmade ketchup has a satisfying sweetness to it that will remind you of a mom or a grandma in your past who made the same. Not super smooth, with a nice texture of tomato, and like the burger, well seasoned. I always love an Oreo shake to go alongside my burger, but be warned, these shakes are a bit more like concretes, and must be scooped with a spoon to start with. Definitely make the trip off the freeway, and bypass all of the standard chain offerings to get here. It will be worth it!

Full disclosure, we know the guy cooking the burgers! That being said, I wanted to give this place a fair review so I didn’t tell him we were coming. Overall, I definitely recommend this place. I know the type of food Zach cooks on a regular basis and I have never tasted anything out of his kitchen that has been less than superb. These burgers are no exception! I ordered the cowboy burger, just to try the “basic” burger. The overall assessment of the burger itself…. The beef (clearly amazing) seasoned well! Flavorful, cheese proportional. The pickles were crispy, with a nice crunch when biting into them. The way I like pickles on my burger. Lettuce, fresh and clean as to be expected. Crispy and delicious. The sauce! What is this monstrosity of crave-ability coming at me? Is this BBQ? Is this ketchup? I’ll likely be dreaming of this for days. The bun is clearly a higher quality than your average fast food burger bun as well, seriously…where can I buy these? All that being said, between the sauce, the juicy burger, possibly pickle juice drippings? The bun did end up a smidge soggy around the edges. Nothing that couldn’t be improved upon. The restaurant itself could also use a few upgrades (I imagine they are in the process of this) it feels more like a quick “grab a burger and go” type of place, than a sit & hang out. Not the type of place I would think to have a local craft brew (which they offer). Overall, I would 9/10 recommend. Definitely will eat there again. When you visit the Ontario location, be sure to tell Zach I sent you! Enjoy!

Their frozen treats are wonderful! The Ranch has the thickest, most amazing milkshakes in town! Fresh vanilla ice cream (not freezer burnt & old like other places!) mixed with chocolate, caramel, raspberry, strawberry, or pineapple. Oreos or peanut butter cups can also be added. You can even do a combination to create something deliciously unique. They’re so thick, they must be eaten with a spoon. (And careful there’s no lids provided!) If that’s not your style, then take a pass as they aren’t for you. The Made-in-Emmett gelato (Blackberry or Lemon) are personal favourites being truly tart! (The Blackberry is definitely a little sweeter.) Peach is delightfully, mildly sweet. As is the pistachio. Neither personally appeal to my taste buds, but others seem to enjoy the sweetness & mild flavours. Unfortunately the fries are still soggy and odd tasting. Even though their pulled pork has a decent smokey taste, it’s rather dry. We won’t be ordering their porky fries again due to the strange taste from the fries and the dryness of the pulled pork.

I am not a person who writes reviews unless they are so good or so bad. Sadly, I feel tonight deserves a review. I got to the Ranch in Ontario at 6:30. I know that the orders take a while and I am fine waiting if I have good service and/or good food. The service in the Ontario establishment has been going downhill for a while and I keep trying to give it another chance. I used to eat at the Boise establishment and was thrilled when they opened a brick and mortar in Ontario. Ontario deserves to have more Ma and Pa establishments that can compete with the excessive fast-food sprawl in Ontario. Tonight was absolutely awful in service. By the time I got up to take my order it was 6:45. I was fine with the time as I don't mind waiting. The server was dismissive in attitude, and I was still fine because I felt like it had been a long day. I order my food, pull up to the next window, she told me the restaurant was out of Bacon for my sandwich that I ordered. She offered Pulled Pork but sadly it is not what I wanted. I politely asked what other hamburgers were available. She told me that she didn't know and that they were getting ready to close so I needed to make my choice. I was a little startled by her abrasiveness. I asked for a menu as I don't know what is on the hamburgers and she said she didn't have any and that they were closing and I needed to make my choice. I remembered the name of the Amy Bitner hamburger, and she didn't know what was on it and she was irritated as she wanted to go home. She yelled to the chef and asked what was on the hamburger and so I ordered it. She was quite dismissive and rude and wanted to go home. But she told me that she wanted to go home at 6:50 which is 10 minutes before they close. I tried to say thanks, she shut the window while I was talking to her. She told me they were closing 3 times and yet I drove out of there at 6:56. When she gave me my food, even though it was a different burger, she called my burger by the name of the burger they said they couldn't do because of no Bacon. Again, I probably could have ignored the mistakes, but the attitude was unpleasant and dismissive because she wanted to go home. She handed the burger to me and shut the window as I was saying something. I decided to just go home.

I got home and realized that she didn't give me my drink which was part of the meal. So, I called the number and got a friendly person who was not in town but called the Ontario store. I pulled in and the same server said "My boss says that you need a drink" No apology! I had originally ordered lemonade. I couldn't remember and just said "give me a Pepsi". She gave me a Pepsi. If things weren't bad enough, the Pepsi she gave me was out of carbonation and I had sugary watery fluid in my cup. Once again, I usually don't complain but dang it!. Ontario deserves better than this. The service and friendliness and quality in Boise is wonderful. I've eaten here at least 10x. The service and quality keep slipping. I really want to support the establishment, but I don't think I have it in me to...

-Reply Back - The point of my review was not because of the sauce or anything about the burger or even its taste. The reason I gave a 1 star review was because of the the rude and disrespectful treatment I was received when I came back. Almost closing or closing soon, should not dictate to treat a customer poorly. If your restaurant is open till 7pm service should remain the same. Now, when an appropriate apology is given I will gladly take down my 1 star review.

I ordered the Swiss and Mushroom burger. I got home started to eat the fries and they were good however the burger had some weird funky sauce which apparently was their ranch sauce. Tasted like toxic nail polish it was weird so I headed back to the restaurant to ask for a new burger however my experience was extremely bad. I pulled up asked politely wasn’t mad at all! I understand mistakes happen I told the lady ( at the window) what happened she was concerned and understood what was happening. She told someone in the back what I was saying and this older gentleman with a large white beard came out really mad I told him the ranch sauce was funky tasting and he was not having it he told me there was nothing wrong with his ranch sauce and forcefully threw his face into the burger (either tasting or smelling idk) but man this guy was piping with rage. I asked if I could just get the burger redone but he still said there was nothing wrong. I was honestly just in shock so I stood there for a bit in silence. He just ended up saying “if you really want a burger I can make you 1!” 🤬 after that he was definitely going to spit or something in it so I politely said no and that I didn’t want to get confrontational so I told him to have a good rest of his day and left. (After that that he threw the burger as hard as he could in the trash) It was 15 minutes before they closed but still they didn’t have to be that rude and...
