We were booked at the Perdido Beach resort for three days. We elected our dining experiences to be at the Voyagers (companion restaurant to Latitude 30) on the first night, Louisiana Lagniappe (across the street from the resort) on the second night, and Latitude 30 the third night.
In spite of good reviews, Voyagers turned out to be one of the worst dining experiences we have EVER had. Among other problems they served us with spoiled (unrefrigerated?) shrimp, which no restaurant should EVER do. And maybe that should have forewarned and forestalled us, since the same kitchen serves the Latitude 30 restaurant.
Yes, Latitude 30 was also bad. We both got the shrimp bisque soup, and it was bitter. We only finished about half before we gave it up as one of the worst shrimp bisques we have ever had. Beyond the bad soup we did a 'select your catch', assiduously avoiding the shrimp. Mahi-mahi and swordfish were our safe choices, reasonable, but nothing to write home about. We looked forward to completing dinner with the lemon-lime pie, one of our favorites, but found it to be very bitter, overwhelmed by the taste of grated rind. So we left much of it, something we almost never do.
The server was nice and we left a generous gratuity, but it was asserted at no reflection on...
Read moreThe food is great. We were seated promptly every day for 5 days. The usual wait time for wait staff to take our orders, which includes the server even introducing themselves and seeing what we would like to drink, was anywhere from 5 to 10 minutes. Usually when a server introduced themselves the question was "is anyone helping you? Oh um what would you like to drink?". The average amount of customers was 2 tables of people at any given meal which made for quiet meals and attentive servers after we were able to get a server. They have daily specials which were excellent. The temperature in the restaurant on a daily basis was cold, and I would encourage long sleeves or a light coat when...
Read moreWe visited Latitude 30 three times during our stay at Perdido Beach Resort - twice for breakfast and once for dinner. Our breakfast experiences were quite good all around - above average. However we cannot say the same about dinner. First, there was a large visible lipstick stain on the rim of the water glass that my wife was first served. Second, my red snapper was overcooked and very chewy. Lastly, although the key lime pie was quite good, my wife's chocolate cake was a little disappointing. Service, drinks, and my wife's herb-crusted chicken were good. If the review was based solely on dinner then the overall score would have...
