This was my first time eating here. I like the fact that it was not like your typical restaurant layout. It appears that it was in a house or other type structure that was repurposed as a restaurant. The place had a lot of charm and the environment was inviting. The place was lively. It had a patio with live music (didn't find her impressive but people seemed to be enjoying themselves). It was a nice night and sitting outside was tempting but there was a wait for that. I can see why we had a 45 minute wait (we waited for 58 mins but we were not there the whole time) but we were allowed to call ahead and get on the list, so we waited in the parking lot for 20 minutes. The food was awesome and so was our server. I am sorry I cannot remember her name though.
I had the trigger fish blackened (pictured). For sides, I had green beans (they seemed fresh and appeared to be prepped like you would with your grandmother as a kid), and sweet potato fries. The green beans could of used some seasoning or bacon because they just tasted like they were prepped and tossed in a pot alone but cooked just right. This was my first time having sweet potato fries and they were pretty good. The fish was a freaking party in my mouth. It was delicate, flakey, and delicious! It was a very mild fish and I have never eaten trigger fish and suggest that you try it if you haven't either.
The only thing I didn't like about the place was that it was very busy and the parking lot was full. A lot of people were parking at the library. I am crippled and didn't want to walk that far. I did manage to find a parking spot in the restaurant lot though. My family loved this restaurant, so we will return! It is probably one of the best seafood places in the Jacksonville area and we have some awesome seafood...
Read moreI've been several times over the past couple of years. While I appreciate the $10 bottomless mimosas, the food is just not that great. And I don't know if they're short staffed, but service is sloooow. They got rid of the live music for brunch. That was a big draw for me. I could tolerate the slow service and mediocre food if I was being entertained. And when I went today for brunch, I see the lack of live music is affecting business. I heard they are under new management. It will be awhile before I come back. In the pic: Salmon Benedict which was pretty decent. Except they skimped on the hollandaise sauce. So when I asked for extra, because it took so long to get it, the food was cold. :(
Update: 5/19/25 Website today says Monday special is $12/lb crab legs. I was just there a few months ago and the Website was the same. When I ordered it, they told me it was $15/lb. It's a bait and switch. There was some excuse about a new website designer and they just hadn't updated it yet. Let's also discuss the lack of air conditioning in that place. No air. Not even a cracked window. There are only like one or two fans they move around to the different rooms for diners. They need to invest in some more fans or get those wall/ceiling air conditioning units. I don't know how they will stay in business over this coming summer with no air. I can only imagine how the cooks feel. And is there something that can be done about their parking lot entrance? It has a huge sinkhole that - even though I was careful and moved over it slow - still bounced my car with fervor. The crab legs, even at $15/lb is still a decent deal, and I had craving so I caved. But I will find other means because it's wayyy to hot in there. Our server today was so sweet and very attentive. I think her name was Eileen. She...
Read moreMy family and I were excited to try somewhere new for dinner on a Thursday night and we were highly disappointed. The presentation of the food was nice, but the food was mediocre and overpriced. I ordered their fish dip and fried green tomatoes. The fish dip was served on a plate on top of a lettuce leaf, sprinkled with a seasoning (possibly smoked paprika) and a basket full of individually wrapped small crackers (2 in a pack). Don’t be fooled, this dip can be bought at the WinnDixie deli. I ordered their adult beverage with grapefruit juice in it and it was terribly made with the ratio off (mind you, I love grapefruit juice). I sent it back and ordered a simple house margarita, but the ratio was off on that as well and I sent it back. Both drinks were taken off the bill. The fried green tomatoes were not the typical fried green tomatoes that most southerners prefer, but it was perfect in presentation and taste! There was a perfect ratio of blue crumbled cheese, balsamic vinegar, and other. Highly recommend trying! I ordered the blackened shrimp with green beans and mashed potatoes. For some reason the mashed potatoes had a lemon taste to them (others at the table tasted it too); possibly due to using lemon butter. The shrimp was chewy and overpowered by spice. The green beans were not very fresh, but ok. The fish was over seasoned, but ok. All in all, it was not worth the $115 we spent (not including tip). The decor, from what I could see was nice and some of the art is for sale. The parking in the back allows for handicap accessibility, but you wouldn’t know that unless they put out a sign stating the handicap accessibility. (My 80 year old mom climbed up the steep steps before we knew about the back.) They allow for both inside and...
