We got several to-go items from the newly opened Barry’s Greek Grill in Orange. Sorry, no pics. I have never gotten in habit of taking photos of my food.
We ordered the falafel appetizer, gyro platter, moussaka, and baklava. We had initially tried to order the Pastitsio, but they were out if it by 3pm on Sunday.
While the falafel was ok, there was only a serving of 4 as an appetizer, along with Tzatziki sauce. The falafel looked like they had been broken open and somewhat smushed. I’ve never had them served this way before. I would recommend at least a serving of 5 as an appetizer and to serve them whole, not smushed.
The gyro platter came with a gyro sandwich, fries, and a Greek salad. This was a very hearty serving. The fries were well seasoned but weren’t crispy. I’m not sure if that is the way they come or if it was due to traveling in a styrofoam container with a hot sandwich.
The gyro was large and quite delicious. The pita was soft, the meat, was tender, and there was an abundant amount of tomatoes, onions, and Tzatziki sauce. I’m glad Barry’s sticks to the basics in gyro making — no weird pickled okra, feta, lettuce, and cucumbers like I’ve had on other sandwiches. The Greek salad was well-made and delicious as well.
The moussaka came with a Greek salad, which made a nice meal. It was very flavorful and delicious and the best moussaka my husband has had since he lived in Austin. For someone who will not eat any eggplant in any dish other than this one, that is high praise, indeed!
The serving of baklava was huge-one large square cut into 2 triangles- well worth the price! It was a smidge dry, however. It needed more syrup so that the nuts didn’t fall out of the pastry when I tried to eat it.
Overall , I’d give Barry’s an 8 out of 10. Barry’s Greek Grill is a welcome addition to Orange, and we will be back to try...
Read moreBarry’s Greek Grill is hands down the best Mediterranean food spot I’ve ever had the pleasure of visiting in town. From the moment you step in, the warm, inviting atmosphere and the incredible aromas let you know you’re in for something special.
The food? Absolutely top-notch. Every dish is bursting with authentic Mediterranean flavors, fresh ingredients, and just the right balance of spices. The gyros are perfectly seasoned, with tender meat that practically melts in your mouth. The hummus is smooth, creamy, and pairs beautifully with their warm, fresh pita bread. And don’t even get me started on their Greek salads—crispy, vibrant, and topped with the most flavorful feta cheese.
Barry’s doesn’t just deliver on food, though. The service is exceptional, with friendly, attentive staff who clearly take pride in what they do. They’re knowledgeable about the menu and always happy to make recommendations or accommodate dietary needs.
If you’re looking for a place that delivers both incredible flavors and an unforgettable dining experience, Barry’s Greek Grill is it. Whether you’re dining in or taking out, you’ll leave completely satisfied and already planning your next visit.
Highly recommend—this place is a...
Read moreI ordered the gyro and fries and the spread sampler. I would say that with some tweaking and attention to detail, this restaurant could be a great addition to Orange. However, these were the problems: The fries were oversalted. I know this is subjective, but I think when the salt burns your tongue, that means there is too much. Too much black pepper in the chicken gyro and the overall taste lacked complexity. I would add more garlic, lemon and oregano at the very least to elevate the taste of the chicken. Also a marinade or a brine would have kept the chicken from drying out on the grill. Double check the orders. I actually ordered the regular gyro not the chicken. However, the restaurant was noisy and it was hard to communicate by telephone. I liked the spreads but they are stuck in the box with warm pitas which heats the spreads and makes them sweat. It would be better to put them in a separate little bag perhaps a small paper bag and put that paper bag on top of the container of pitas. Also the spicy red pepper dip was a little too spicy. It wasn't too hot for me, but again, the heat through off the...
