Have been wanting to try Cajun 88 for a while it used to be the old Jack-in-the-Box building went there for the first time yesterday I was very disappointed One it still had all the old Jack-in-the-Box Features the lighting, the booths and tables, the trash cans, the same paint on the walls the same messed up ceiling. Nothing had been renovated inside kind of disgusting It was hot and humid and the menu Too much just a bunch of stuff thrown On there, and there was no Cajun food. There was no gumbo there was no jambalaya no Étouffée, Alligator food Boudin balls etc. Just hamburgers, catfish chicken, even Chinese food, it took forever for the food to come out I was very disappointed in my dish And my drink from the machine tasted old and watery And one thing that makes no sense to me whatsoever Is why there is an Asian woman running a Cajun restaurant I will not be going to this place again. I give it a year top and it’ll close down. When will Southeast Texas learn we don’t need more fast food restaurants we don’t need more Mexican restaurants. Half the time when I want something I go to Port Arthur or Beaumont because that’s where they have things maybe if our mayor wasn’t an asinine moron, he’d...
Read moreWe went in Lil past 8pm 8/29/25. Doors were propped open- the AC wasn't working. Ordered shrimp dinner as was Friday's special. Would've ate inside but was cooler outside. The inside looks like did do much remodel from old Jack in the Box. Got in car to eat and shrimp was not good, took in to ask for refund. Lady said no refund then pointed at side door (same door we had gone in and out)and said there's a sign that says no refund. I double checked, the only two signs were list of cards accepted and temporary sign saying they'd be closed Monday 9/1/25 and reopen Tuesday 9/2. I have picture of door lady pointed at saying sign said No Refunds, to prove no such sign exists. Will NOT be going back....
Read more"Cajun" is not at all how I would classify the food. I ordered a Liver dinner which come with 6 fried liver pieces, a choice of side and a roll. Drinks are separate. Eventhough the livers were light and crispy, there was no seasoning, not even salt. I selected sweet potato fries. I thought there would be a gravy or sauce with the livers but there was none. I hope that they start using Cajun seasoning on their food. I think it could really improve upon the taste and help with them calling them selves " Cajun". The seating space was dim lit and has a humid feeling. My hope is that they can stick around but please add seasoning to the food or at the minimum offer season packets...
