Decided to try this place out that is close to my work. The pictures of the menu showed burritos that looked good. I would love to find a simple place that just makes great Mexican food. A big fat burrito stuffed to the brim and surrounded with a tasty wet sauce is what I was craving and the pictures seemed to suggest I could get that here. There's nothing close in the area that has fulfilled that need so far so hopefully this would be the one.
For lunch the place was not busy but I decided to try it out. I ordered the carnitas burrito, wet with green sauce and a bottle of Mexican coke (yeah the real stuff in the bottles). When the burrito came out it looked perfect - A humungous burrito covering the whole plate swimming in wonderful green sauce drizzled with some white cheese or sauce (I think it was cheese). All I know is that it was huge but the real question was how was it on the inside. I was pleased that the burrito was filled with a generous helping of carnitas along with your standard beans and I guess rice (for some reason I don't remember seeing rice in there, all I remember was tons of meat and some beans). All that I know is that it was tasty, full of meat and now two hours later I'm still full. I don't know how I ate that whole thing but it was that good I couldn't stop eating.
There's a couple of things on the menu I want to try out next time I'm here so expect an update within a couple of weeks. They also have menudo which is only available till it's sold out so hopefully one day I can pick some up for my wife on...
Read moreI’ve been coming to El Cayotito 2 on and off for the last couple of years, and every time I stop in, it’s an experience that reminds me why I keep coming back. The food here is absolutely incredible—authentic, flavorful, and you can tell everything is made from scratch with care and passion. It’s not just a restaurant; it’s a true, home-style dining experience that hits different.
Miguel, the owner, and his wife run this place like it’s their home, and every meal feels like you’re being welcomed into a friend’s kitchen where they just made you something special. The hospitality is second to none—every visit, I feel appreciated, and the food never disappoints.
If I had to recommend one menu item above all, it’s the quesadillas made with maiz (corn flour)—they’re out of this world. Truly, though, you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu.
Yes, I’ve seen a few people complain about having to walk through the kitchen to get to the bathroom—but seriously, what do you expect? If that’s the only “downside” you can come up with, just don’t even mention it. This place is a true 5-star gem.
El Cayotito 2 is a hole-in-the-wall, one of Orange County’s best-kept secrets. Part of me wants to keep it that way, but honestly, more people need to know about it. If you’re looking for authentic, homemade Mexican food—this is the spot. I fully support this small business, and I think everyone in our community should visit and show their support too. It’s...
Read moreDecided to try this place last minute while double dating with some friends because it was one of the few places open past 8pm. I’m so glad we found it. The inside is a little small, which was fine for the 4 of us. We were greeted when we walked in, the people working were really nice and quickly brought us menus, drinks along with chips and salsa. The salsa was fresh and tasty. I got an asada quesadilla, my husband got the asada burrito and our friends got chicken enchiladas. All the food (including the tortillas) was made fresh and tasted homemade. With the vibe along with the homemade flavor, it felt like we were at a friends house eating good food. I will be back...
