On July 7, 2025, I purchase a bowl of soup, a side order of rice, a large oxtail, and a round bun to go, the total purchase was $37.00. I then decided at the last minute to have the food at the place of business. I went to the counter and requested a paper plate from the store attendant to place the rice and soup on. The attendant told me that it was against company policy to give plates. I RESPONDED BY SAYING WHAT? I offered to pay for the plate but was still rejected. I decided to return the food and requested my money back, but was told, "Sorry, we can't do that." I was handed a copy of my receipt and instructed to write my name and phone number so someone could call me regarding the issue. The attendant then took the food. I followed the instructions given. Later that evening, I received a call from a lady whom I thought would resolve the issue and offer a solution. Instead, she repeated the same statements as the store attendant, providing no resolution. Frustrated, I hung up. Golden Krust kept both my food and my money. If this situation had occurred in another culture, I am certain my request would have been granted. Frustrated and bewildered, I stood there for a moment, trying to process the absurdity of the situation. I had spent good money and was willing to be reasonable—even to pay extra for a single paper plate—yet I was met with rigid refusal and zero flexibility. The interaction felt not only impersonal but deeply disappointing. What I had hoped for was a simple sign of hospitality, a small act of understanding that, in my experience, transcends business policies in many communities. Instead, the transaction became transactional in the coldest sense. The food was no longer nourishing or celebratory; it became a casualty of inflexibility. This happened during the weekend of July 4, 2025, a time of celebration, when my wife took me out for Caribbean food. The experience ended with a bad taste in my mouth. In closing, I have served these United States of America in the US Army, both abroad and at home. Not being given a paper plate or tray to eat food on our country’s Independence weekend (July 4, 2025)...
Read moreOkay so I am golden Krust lover and for me to give this criticism it’s not to hurt but to help. Food- did they change chef? The food is tasting very bland since the move. Ordered jerk chicken- chicken was very boring NOT even a piece of jerk sauce. Some seasoning detected but not enough to be considered real Jerk. Oxtails- who don’t know about Oxtail gravy, it’s the most flavorful thing ever- Well I have to say, the oxtail I just had was very bland. I could not taste that special flavor that oxtail seasoning offers. Curry Chicken- I ordered that as well, Where was the curry, seemed like chicken was seasoned with Tumeric and not authentic Jamaican Curry. My husband asked me where is the curry in this meal- he didn’t eat it. I was embarrassed. Like I said whoever has taken over the kitchen is allergic to Salt and Real Seasoning. Also- please while the mass might enjoy Pigeon Peas and Rice, that is NOT the authentic way. We love those Kidney Peas, it gives better color and flavor. The Staff While friendly they do tend to move extremely slow even when there is a line. They also have no portion control- if they know you, they will heap on the rice and the meat. If they don’t know you, you barely get any meat- this is not hear say, I have seen it every time I have gone there. But over all the staff is pleasant. Message to Management Encourages the kitchen to use seasoning for more flavor. Give Jerk Sauce with Jerk Chicken, it just makes sense. Encourage the staff to pick up the pace around the lunch time and dinner time peak time. Encourage the staff not to heap up a whole bunch of meat/chicken for the staff and then serve the customer the what left- I have seen this 3 times already-smh. That said, I am hoping that the next visit will find more flavor and less bland dishes.
Thanks Long...
Read moreNow please understand I gave this location 2 stars because of the service. Their food is excellent! So if you don't care about service then by all means. There is only one server here that consistently provides excellent courtesy, always smiles and thanks you for your business every single time. I'll describe her because unfortunately name tags are not worn, she's on the tall side 5'8 ish , usually wears braids. Now the others. There is one server in particular who usually collects the cash and this woman refuses to take my order because in the past when she did I didn't give a tip. The first time I actually didnt have cash and if you pay with a card there's no way to apply a tip and second time I deliberately didnt because she was rude and tipping is optional and usually follows after good service, if the service is poor then my money stays in my wallet. I would rather give it to the homeless man who holds the door open for me than to someone who packs and give me the food I pay for with a scowl on her face. Since then she refuses to to take my order, when I walk in she rolled her eyes, she strategically spends extra time with the customer she currently has or the customer before me so that one of the other women would take me. There was one occasion I thought I was probably misunderstanding her demeanor but I witnessed with my own eyes as I stood as the only person online both her and the other server standing there, AVAILABLE, she whispered to her something and the other server called "Next" as they chuckled. I once pulled the woman out of uniform who I thought was the manager aside and express my praise for the server with the sunshine and my displeasure to the others. As good as the food is if it weren't for me periodically being served by her I would have really never...
