A Meal Weâll Always Remember â Thank You, Koobikland
As a father, there are only so many moments you get where the world slows down just enough for you to truly connect with your child. a couple of weekends ago, my son Hamid and I had one of those rare moments, and it happened at Koobikland.
We walked in just expecting a meal. What we got was an experience.
From the moment we stepped inside, we were greeted not just as customers, but as guests. The staff treated us with a warmth that felt genuine â not scripted. We both immediately felt comfortable. The playful yet cozy atmosphere, the little touches of whimsy, and the soft hum of good conversation made it feel less like a restaurant and more like someone inviting us into their home.
The food? Exceptional. I had the Molook O'Saltane and my son had the KIng of Persia which was perfectly seasoned, tender, and clearly made with care. We are still talking about how the koobideh was the absolute most unique and with the upmost melody of flavors we have ever had... it was incredible. The presentation, the plating, the side dishes, and even the saffron butter were all a 10 out of 10 and pure joy to not only eat but to savor every bite.
The owner made sure to stop by and personally ask us how everything is, introduce himself, have a genuine conversation with us, and let us know how welcomed we were, and that if there was anything that we needed, to please let him know personally.
But beyond the food, what made it special was the feeling that someone had thought deeply about what kind of place Koobikland should be. A place for laughter. A place for stories. A place where a father and son could sit across from one another, without distractions, and just enjoy being together.
On the way home, Hamid said, âCan this be our spot now?â And thatâs all I needed to hear.
Thank you, Koobikland, for giving us not just a great meal, but a memory weâll both carry for a long time. Weâll be back â...
Read moreWhat a beautiful experience. Today my daughter and I went for our first visit to this location based on the google reviews and we both were impressed. The ambience and design inside is very tasteful. The service is kind, generous and inviting. They asked if I would like water or tea while waiting for our food (for pick up while waiting) and they served us complementary tea and munchies. My daughter had chicken kabob for lunch and the setting and food was excellent. Rice was fluffy and it had beautiful serving with a few zereshk on the side. They provided delicious tahdig (it is the kind made w safran and egg and I could taste and smell the safran). I ordered kashkeh bademjan and flafa plate and when I opened the plate, falafa was in a bed of red cabbage, with picked cucumber, tomato and delicious sauce. They provided a separate container of dill pickles, onion and lime. Another for bread. Everything was so tasty. Falafa was not burned or dry like most falafa that are commonly served at most restaurants. Falafa was tasty and the color and texture were beautiful. Last Friday we went at a local Italian Michlen star restaurant in Newport. The food was good except one item but they did not have half the details for serving their food with care and design as this place. I think this place should apply to become a Michlen Star restaurant. I know of no Persian restaurants with that recognition. While waiting, a gentleman started playing on the grand piano. While this place is a bit of a drive, it worth it. We will be returning there for...
Read moreKoobikland is a true jewel for anyone seeking authentic Persian cuisine, and probably the overall best we've had in the USA. Our journey began with the house salad, with a dressing that took me back to the flavors I remember from Tehran decades ago. It was both refreshing and nostalgically charming. For our main course, we indulged in the koobideh kabab and joojeh kabab, both of which were commendable. The koobideh, while excellently flavored and melting in the mouth, was somewhat over-minced, leading to a lower texture than expected (e.g. compared to Shamshiri in DC). However, it was still a delightful dish and perfect in every other way. The joojeh kabab was a standout, perfectly cooked to achieve a balance of juiciness and tenderness that is hard to find. We also ventured to try the Lati Rice upon recommendation by Kiarash, the owner. Its sour taste presented a unique culinary experience, and was a pleasant divergence from the usual. My favorite style would probable be half regular and half Lati rice. Our dining experience concluded with Persian ice cream, which was rich and (maybe somewhat too much) flavorful. The ambiance of the restaurant was briefly elevated by live piano music. While the music itself was a delightful touch, the volume was a bit too high, slightly overshadowing our conversation. Its atmosphere is full of character (though not as high end as Rumi of Atlanta), while its hospitality and culinary expertise is second to none. We left with satisfied palates and the intent to return whenever we...
