Cupbop - Korean BBQ in a Cup — Restaurant in Orem

It is important to note that I'm rating the Utah Valley University location specifically, because I'm primarily rating the service I've received here on such a consistent basis over about a year.

Don't get me wrong - the food is spectacular, especially considering the pricing point. The dishes are fun and (for my rather bland palate) quirky, a bed of rice housing cabbage, glass noodles and a choice of Korean BBQ meat, elegantly topped with a bright and colorful array of sweet and spicy sauces. It's one of my favorite places to grab lunch or dinner on campus, honestly, and usurped my usual go-to ramen joint just up the street.

But each time I go there, even setting aside how much I enjoy my meal, I'm greeted by exceptionally courteous and personable staff. They're always outstandingly kind and helpful, and they've even learned my often odd orders (tofu and pork, with kimchi - of course, tofu's no longer available, which is kind of sad). Honestly, the whole experience leaves me feeling valued beyond the $8 my bowl costs, and is an overwhelming customer-service win. If I ran a restaurant, I'd want to hire exclusively at the caliber this location does, because they really knock it out of the park.

This location has gotten worse and worse over the past 6 months. They cannot even use their own bowls to mark what meal is what meal when you order multiple meals together. They also cannot read the orders, since every single order made in the past two months has been wrong. Why have an option for "Make it Sloppy" and then leave all sauces off? I have ordered the same thing every single time I have ordered, and it has not been the same once in 6 months. One time they don't put veggies in to mark that the GF noodles are in the bowl, then another time they leave out the carrots. One time you get all the sauce you can dream of and the rice is swimming, other times you get nothing, you can never tell if you are going to get the mayo sauce from one time to the next. When you call and talk with the store all they can do is explain how you are wrong and what was delivered was right. It's a smaller place but the food is amazing. They have a great variety of food. You get to gauge how spicy you want your order to be. The noodles are refreshingly different. The bowls seem small but there's more than enough food in there. I'm a big eater and this fills me up just fine. Two locations, one on UVU campus and the other just south of BYU campus about a block south. The provo location I believe only takes cash, I could be mistaken though.
