This place doesn't look like much from the outside. It is just a tiny spot in the stripmall next to Smiths. Don't let this deter you, it is fantastic! The staff was fast and kind, and the food was excellently prepared, and beautifully presented. El Gallo Giro is WAY more authentic than anywhere else I've tried (and I should know, I lived in Mexico for 3 years of my life). This is what real Mexico tastes like! Delicious cotija, pico de gallo and crema on top. Don't get me started on the salsa bar! Híjole, que rica! That delicious mango salsa is amazing. The roasted green pepper salsa I could could put into an IV and let drip into my bloodstream all day. I have been looking for excellent Mexican since moving to Utah, and don't have to look any further. This is NOT the place to go if you want Americanized Mexican: Your frijoles encased in an artery clogging greasy layer of American Cheddar, with salsa that tastes like ketchup. Go somewhere else if you want to feel gross, with Diablo level gas, or get Montezuma's revenge. El Gallo Giro is FRESH and delicious. My first visit I got the #13 which is a huge meal, but I ate the whole thing and had zero regrets. In fact I liked it enough to tell everybody about it, and come write a review. Do yourself a favor and stop wasting your time with...
Read moreI only leave reviews to the places that are completely worth it in my opinion. Growing up in a Mexican household eating Mexican everyday I can vouch that this place is as good as it gets.
Service: it all started by asking them if they had a mole burrito over the phone. The lady that answered spoke to me like if she was my family right off the bat. She offered to have the mole burrito ready by the time I arrived and when I arrived it was ready for my wife and I.
Food: my wife and I had a Mole Burrito and the mole was made by hand. You can tell by the way you can feel the texture and taste throughout the sauce. The rice came out like if it came from a Mexican wedding. Everything was fresh and super tasty.
For a place that didn't have a host/hostess to check up on you, they checked on us to see if we needed anything else, like if we were more like family than customers. Great all around, at this place I recommend a Mole Burrito if...
Read moreHorrific. I eat out a lot and have never had such a bad experience in years. Stay away from this place. The restaurant was not that busy, even with take out orders and it took 45 minutes for them to bring 2 of our 6 plates. 30 minutes after 2 in my family FINISHED their plate, they came and brought the third plate which was wrong and he had written down the rest of the order wrong. 20 minutes after that he brought out two tacos no one had ordered. And then 30 minutes after that he came and asked us what else we were waiting for. We told him again. 1.5 hours in he brought the wrong order to the table next to us and then I saw two tables over they brought a dish and then he left and that table gave the dish to the table next to them. I have never, ever seen anything like it. We gave up and paid for the 1/3 of our order that did make it to us. Food we did receive...
