Ok. I have to update this. My son was asking for sushi, and asked for sushi up by name. I was still put out by the service last time, and a bit shy to show my face there, but I gave in. I saw the waitress I usually know and she was very apologetic for my last encounter. She was the only server there and it was rather busy, but she was attentive and kind. We steered clear of the rolls with straight chili sauce and the food was much better. I love the assortment you can get, plus other dishes as well. Ok, I’m back, but I might recommend they hire more servers to keep pace with all to go orders and the number of guests they have.
(Days Earlier for lunch)
I've loved this place since it opened. it was a nice place, family friendly, and a lot of options for a decent price. i could get a variety of smaller rolls, wife wife could do the same, and then the kids could do a bit of sushi, and then sides as well.
Well, its look like they are giving the appearance of going upscale, but lower the assortment of rolls to choose from, raise the price of the meals, and give you less.
Worst was my last visit. Not too crowded, but I waited a long time to be seated. Waitress hands me a menu and if I would like anything to drink. I asked for water as many do, and she left for a long time, disappeared, then hanging out with the sushi chef, then moving napkins around. After finally coming to take my order, with no drink. After I order I wait another long time, waitress again fidgeting at the counter, moving unused bowls around. I ordered the full meal, so I kinda expected things to come out a bit at a time. Salad, potstickers, sushi, entree and soup. Everything comes at once after a long long time but the miso soup, and still no water. I try to be patient and not say anything. Halfway done, she brings the water, no apology, no appreciation for my patience, just "and here is your water". She eventually brings out the check and I ask about the soup. Again no apology, just 'and the soup'. I eat slowly, hoping it will eventually come, but then I see her back to folding napkins, getting water refills for other, changing the direction of the chopstick on another table. I can see she forgot about the soup, and even eye contact does not jar her memory. Not even when I go to pay my bill.
Now to the sushi. They seem to have gotten into the habit of adding some special sauce to most of their rolls. Can't remember its name, but it is awful. I think it is vinegar, some bitter herbs, and straight chili paste. I can take hot, but none of the rest of my family can eat it. It just takes over the taste of anything else. I have never sen this sauce unless you ask for straight siracha or chili paste.
Weirdest part of the experience. There was a kid all in black, super short hair, going back and forth between the back kitchen and outside. He is never carrying anything out or back in. Just makes the determined stroll 5-6 time while I was there.
I don't see me or my family ever making that short neighborhood trip...

To start with the atmosphere, the building is beautiful and has lovely dark colors, plenty of space, and large booths for those of you who love to drag your friends along. The prices are amazing. I'd almost say they're too low for the quality and amount of food that you're in for.
Then there's Nan. She has to be the most kind-hearted, friendly, humble, and motherly hostess I have ever met. From the moment my friend took me here, she treated me like family and has met me with excitement since then. (not gonna lie, I wish she was my aunt) She's always checking up on the guests, making sure you're happy, and offering suggestions. I adore her.
Now, the food... Not only are they rather quick about getting it to you, but the selection you have is massive! Not a sushi person? They have things like baked mussels, stuffed mushrooms, edamame, bento boxes, miso soup, and much more.
Now, if you are a sushi person, you're in for a real treat. I've tried so many rolls here and I've never disliked one. My all time favorites are the Sunshine roll, mango roll, sweet California, dragon roll, rainbow roll, Sushi Up roll, Caribbean roll, and the train track.
The sunshine roll is California style topped with fresh salmon and lemon. I could eat nothing but this roll all day to be honest. I love the tang that the lemon gives the fresh salmon. The Sushi Up roll is so beautiful that I almost didn't want to eat it when it came out, and it combines fruit with fish flawlessly for a blend of flavors that left me speechless. The mango roll has sweet mango and cream cheese and is often something I'll order for dessert. Did I mention there's Takoyaki here? It melts in your mouth and the sauce on top complements the warm, creamy inside beautifully!
I could go on and on about how wonderful this little restaurant is, but this is an experience I cannot fully put into words. I love it here. For local foodies and sushi fans, this is a must-try that will make a...
