I was extremely excited for Village Baker to come to Orem. I visit the St. George Location frequently with family and it is consistently one of my favorite restaurant experiences, we love the pizza here.
We were excited and planned on attending the soft opening for dinner. We arrived earlier than when we normally eat dinner expecting to wait. We got in line and an employee explained that there would be about an hour wait for pizza, which was disappointing but we had factored that into our plan and were happy to wait.
When we arrived at the front of the line, the staff were incredibly rude to us. We were then told that it would actually be an hour and a half, and that actually we couldn't order pizza. We scrambled to figure out what else we would want off the menu, two members of our party found something else, two just decided not to order anything due to having allergies and not wanting to hold up the line.
Some of us grabbed our treats, trying to make sure to find things that did not have nuts, we asked about a specific item that did not have nuts listed and were told that it was fine, but it ultimately had nuts in it.
A little over an hour later, we still haven't received our food, people that were in line behind us had received their food (and pizza) about 15 minutes earlier, so we asked about the where our order was. The staff member disappeared for around 40 minutes and then when we stopped him nearly 2 hours after ordering the employee responded "Sorry its been crazy, if you want you can just leave." I tried to talk to a manager or anyone and was ignored.
So we left. I am incredibly frustrated, not because my time was wasted, but because it was Village Baker that wasted my time. It wasn't some random place that I was trying, I was going to support one of my favorite restaurants in Utah and I got burned by them.
I just wanted my favorite pizza and instead I waited 2+ hours for nothing, a member of my family could've had an allergic reaction to the treat that they were given and then while furious about the situation had to figure something else out for dinner because we had planned on this for dinner (set aside multiple hours and came early to make...
Read moreWe were very excited to try the new Orem location because we love the other locations and this one is slightly closer to us. Unfortunately we were greatly disappointed with literally the entire experience. I always order a small breakfast pizza because it's absolutely amazing! They wouldn't let me order it because it was outside of breakfast hours. Every other location we've been to (we've been to all of them from Sandy to now Orem) never had an issue with me ordering the breakfast pizza so that was a major let down. I didn't know what else to get because that's the only thing I order. I tried the Chicken Alfredo pizza and did not like it at all. We also got an oatmeal raisin cookie and it was rock HARD! Super disappointing because we usually love their soft gooey cookies. My wife ordered her favorite veggie sandwich and it just tasted stale, unlike the usual super fresh sandwich she's become accustomed to. When we tried to sit down at a table, the place was a MESS! We had to wipe down the table and benches at even the cleanest table there, we've never had that issue at any of the other locations.
Seems like the owner of this new franchise location is struggling with management skills and needs some coaching. For us, we'll make the extra 5 minute drive to the PG location to enjoy the great service and food we...
Read moreI am so excited that Village Baker has finally opened here in Orem! The restaurant feels warm and welcoming the moment you walk in. The décor is clean and modern, and the soft bench seating makes it a really comfortable place to relax and enjoy a meal. The staff were genuinely friendly and helpful, and the place was very clean. The staff were keeping the tables and floors tidy, which really made a great impression.
The food is just as good as I have come to expect from Village Baker. Their pizza is one of my favorites, and the soup and sandwich combo always hits the spot. The cinnamon rolls are fantastic, soft, sweet, and baked perfectly. I also love that they offer Apple Beer in the bottle, which is a huge win for me.
I really hope it stays this good because I love Village Baker and I am thrilled to have one...
