Let's make an edit, shall we? In response to the owner's response. My personal recommendation is to not go here if you have any sort of voucher or promotional item. In our case it was not honored, we were under the impression that this would still be applicable based on how the "fine print" was worded on the Groupon which says "The amount paid never expires." Which per Groupon's website, this indicator in the fine print says that the Groupon is still valid after the expiration date which is solely why we tried to use it, yet it was not honored. Our groupon was for the sushi class which we were unable to attend because the times they offered (which weren't many at the time) and the times we had available did not line up. We even called the restaurant to schedule this and their available times did not line up. We asked if the value would be honored (which on the Groupon it clearly says the value paid never expires) and were told it would be. So if possible the reataurant should reword the groupon so that it doesn't make people think the funds paid never expire because they clearly do. It was our opinion based on what happened that the manager was unwilling to help nor was he willing to honor the value. I am probably mistaken in the fact that this Groupon may only apply toward the class but not the meal, if that is the case, then the manager should have corrected me in saying that the Groupon can only be used toward the class. If that is the case then that's my mistake. To be clear, I was always willing to pay the full amount but was hoping the restaurant would honor the Groupon that clearly states that the value NEVER expires to save a little bit of money, who doesn't want to save a little? But the way the Groupon was worded, it makes one believe the funds would have still been honored. Yes this is probably only my first or second time using Groupon EVER. So forgive me for not being familiar with how it works. Now on with the review: The wait staff didn't appear to enjoy working here either. Our server met our needs but had a tired, burned out demeanor which made us feel unwelcomed to begin with. The food was somwhat decent overall but the food portions we received were poorly selected, especially when it came to the pork belly. The food you order is selected by whomever in the kitchen dishes them up and with regards to the pork belly, most of what we got was all of the fat-loaded pieces of meat. We had to cut off the fat as it was almost 60 or 70 percent of the cuts we received. I mean, I know pork belly being a BBQ nut, but this was a bit much. I wanted to update my review with more stars but based on our total experience, and the owner's response, I can't in good faith change my review. Seriously, if you want to go here, reconsider your decision, save a little money and go to Umami out in Vineyard. There at least you can pick out the pieces you actually want to cook and eat, and you get to pick how much of everything you want. Much better experience there. And they treat customers...
Read moreFirst time there for me and several other relatives. Was recommended by my brother and his family who were repeat customers driving from up the Syracuse area. Don't know what one overwhelmed employee said to his boss, suddenly as we were starting our meal, an older man who stated he was the owner shocked us with his strong words, hard face, and loud voice, as if backing up his exhausted and obviously burned out server, who had just left our table without anything we could have suspected may have had an issue with our order or any of us and the children. We were a large group and he was the only one attending to us. He clearly looked exhausted and was even confused with bringing out our food. He may have not been trained well or like the owner stated to us, they were short staffed! Whose fault is that? We had made online reservations over a month prior. Anyhow, the employee never appeared again, the owner finally said sorey, but we decided to leave. The damage was done already and we no longer wanted to stay there anymore! Thjs owner made a scene which left us feeling, what's going on? Why is he raising his voice? He may have shared the stress of their employee shortage that Christmas eve, which unfortunately for us, had to apologize to our invites and guests from out of town that night for the awful display of service that we all just witnessed! This owner himself could benefit from a few classes on communication and leadership training just to better serve hjs customers! That won't hurt and would definitely help him! And then he could be able to help any overwhelmed employees too! Will help them greatly in preparation for the busier times such as the holiday season. Otherwise, this owner, influenced by his burned out employee, just managed to ruin our family Christmas dinner that evening, very successfully! Highly unprofessional! It's unfortunate that the owner acted worse than his overwhelmed server that evening. Customer beware! And count yourself lucky if you have a better...
Read moreI was in Colorado and missing Hawaii when a search found a Yummy’s Korean BBQ in Orem, UT. We made it a stop on our summer trip and drove from Victor, ID to Orem, UT arriving about 30 minutes before closing to have some great food! YAY for the 2-hour parking spaces for retail customers! It’s an interesting area that looks like there are apartments on top of retail spaces. How convenient!
The staff was super awesome and friendly! We ordered the beef bulgogi and chicken katsu which came with all of the sides. We also got an appetizer order of japchae and some Coke Zeros. We couldn’t eat it all AND have dessert, so we got a to-go box and ordered the Ho-Teuk Ice Cream ~ a cinnamon pancake with ice cream and chocolate. It was all delicious. We didn’t go for the cook at your table option (which is such fun). There’s an all-you-can-eat option, but … we weren’t up for that, but please eat all the things for me and post how yummy they were!
We met the manager/owner and talked about living in Hawaii, that she was also a math teacher, and that we all love to travel. We showed her photos of our trip, which included Mount Rushmore and she showed us a picture from Zion National Park. We haven’t been there, yet! She also shared that some of the artwork in the restaurant is over 100 years old and the piece in the entryway was painted by a happy customer.
They have 3 new locations listed as coming soon. I liked that Groupon has a sushi making class deal. They also have a Korean language class at the restaurant! (The only thing I’m good at is saying thank you in Korean.)
While we were talking, she mentioned that they have a food truck that goes to Colorado … how do we find that?!? Inquiring minds want to know! (Hawaiians Living in Colorado Facebook Group) UPDATE: Whoops! No food truck to Colorado. Sorry! I can't edit all of the posts!
There was a Pokemon Go gym within easy reach of...
