I have been a loyal customer of El Famous Burrito for MANY MANY YEARS, dating all the way back to when they first opened in Orland Park. It's a real shame that I will no longer be giving them my business all due to the attitude of one smart ass worker and his refusal to replace an order that their cook messed up.
My family and I ordered various items on Sunday May 22nd at the Tinley Park location (roughly a $40 order). Part of our order was THREE SHRIMP TACOS ON FLOUR TORTILLAS. I watched the order taker write the order correctly....verified that it said FLOUR tortillas on the order ticket...and sat down and waited for the order.
When I got the order home, they had made the tacos with CORN tortillas. It might not sound like a big deal, but I can't stand corn tortillas. By the time I got home, the restaurant was closed. I called them today and told the guy who answered the phone what happened. He asked me if I wanted credit and I agreed.
I went to the Tinley Park location to pick up the replacement tacos at about 4:20pm and a guy behind the counter started trying to negotiate with me. First he says that he'll give me one free taco, but I refused. Then he offers two but REFUSES to replace all three. He asks me where the bad tacos were. I told him that I threw them out because they were made incorrectly. At this point, he reaches BEHIND THE COUNTER and produces a tiny 3 inch by 3 inch sign that said you must return any incorrect orders in order to get credit, then stood there grinning. He states that this is their policy and he won't replace the tacos. I am BEYOND angry. I won't be going back to El Famous...
Read moreWe normally enjoy the food from this location. Our last visit bad...my son went in while I waited in the car. It took nearly 40 minutes. While waiting he felt someone took his order. The counter lady said your order is coming. The upshot is when we finally got home and o pened the bag..realized it was not our order. Immediately we called and were told to come back..they'd correct the order no charge. Weather was nasty and we were headed back when we realized we would not have time to get there because my son needed to get to work. I called from my car and was put on hold. Three times I called. Each time the phone was set down Finally on my fourth call I just got a busy signal.I made three calls after that still with a busy signal. We. were not able to return until two days later. When my son tried asking about getting a corrected order, He was told there were no refunds.Further they did not believe him. He was told the woman he spoke to over the phone was on her way in to the store. She arrived with several policemen who told my son he'd have to leave and could no longer be and could not come back on their premises. Needless to say he was shaken. They did give him one burrito. But our order was $30.84. Two burritos, an order of nachos, and guacamole with chips. I would not be so ticked at them had they not made it impossible to speak with them the first night. We went back two days later thinking they'd honor their offer and correct their mistake. Way to distance customers. None of us will...
Read moreMan look here El Famous Burrito goes super crazy!!! Listen I got a steak burrito from here and a chicken Diablo burrito from here. The steak wasn't for me but that chicken burrito was all world. The chicken burrito was spicy with this hot sauce on it and it was super delicious. It's very rarely that I would give a burrito such high ratings but the El Famous Burrito is on a whole different planet. The customer service was on point and the staff were real friendly. The wait time wasn't super long and they gave you exactly what you ordered so they got the order right. When I got home I was mad I didn't order two extra burritos. Now keep in mind when I placed my order for my burrito I generally don't get any lettuce or tomatoes or beans on the burrito and I get the sour cream always on the side. The reason for this is that when you reheat burritos the lettuce gets weird and the sour cream gets a little weird so I always get this stuff on the side. I can say this, if there was a best burrito contest in the Chicagoland area I can promise you that Diablo burrito from El Famous Burrito would be in the top five choices. My only issue with El Famous Burrito are the locations. I'm not campaigning for them to put one in the South Suburban area because this one is in Tinley Park but it wouldn't hurt to have one closer to I-57. In closing I'll say the El famous burrito and that's spicy Diablo burrito is everything. I'll be going back this week to grab two. Now the question is will I be...
