Update: After looking at our receipt it turns out the waitress that "served" us was the notorious Chelsea who has been mentioned in many negative reviews, and called a racist. There is no doubt this person is one and should be fired. I really don't get the appeal of this place especially over in Conway. We went for the first time ever yesterday after we couldn't get into iHop or Another Broken Egg due to long wait times. They sat us quickly but the waitress seemed in a rush to take our order, and annoyed when I said we were waiting on my husband to decide. Her attitude spewed out in her energy and it wasn't good. The food took a long time to arrive, it wasn't very hot and was served by other employees. The coffee was awful. I've had better gas station coffee. The Belgian waffle was rubbery and became soggy as soon as the drizzled syrup hit...yes, drizzled not poured. I could have made a better waffle at home if I had the appliance. My husband's food was ok, mediocre and over priced for what it was honestly. I ordered apple juice that never came. My husband thought I wanted orange, and asked for it when the waitress finally passed by as she never came to check on us once. We got the orange and when the check came it was wrong but right. They charged for the apple only but then she came with another check that had both apple and orange juice on it. 🤦♀️ I swear this woman seemed to have a problem understanding my husband too. He has a slight accent but nothing so heavy you can't understand his English. The issue was resolved but after she ran his card and gave the slip to sign, she just walked off with more attitude. We were up front by the register when this took place and just left the signed slip there. I don't know if she just doesn't enjoy her job or doesn't like serving customers who aren't white like her, but her energy was very uncomfortable to the point of toxic. Needless to say we will...
Read moreWe came in for breakfast on Thursday June 26th. Around 11am. We were seated promptly in a corner booth to the right of the restaurant. Took about 10 to 15 minutes for our server to even greet us. He was very short and didn’t smile. Food came out pretty quickly and was good. When I received my check, I was a little bit in shock because I was charge $20 for a Philly cheesesteak omelette which I have been eating at KeKe’s for years and have never paid that. What I specifically ordered was a Philly cheesesteak omelette with no green peppers and extra cheese with the home fries and wheat toast. When I asked the server why I was being charged three extra dollars. He said he understood what I was saying and see what he could do to fix it well instead of fixing it he sent over the manager, which I didn’t ask for but a young lady with a white polo shirt on and black hair came over and was trying to explain to me that’s that’s just the way they need to ring it in and I was trying to explain to her that why am I paying three extra dollars for an omelette just because I didn’t want green peppers? Extra cheese is only $.50 so she proceeded to tell me that the server did nothing wrong (which I never stated he did) but I just wondered why I’m paying $3 more for a omelette. So the only answer I got is because that’s how they have to ring it up! So for future reference if you want no green peppers in your omelette you will pay $3 more? Make it make sense? The “manager” said she was going to discount it this time, but for future reference that I would be paying that amount for the omelette from now on. Also, in fact she did not discount the check which I wasn’t expecting a discount. I just wanted to pay for what I ordered and nothing extra. The server came right back with the original check and no discount! So needless to say we...
Read moreWith all of the fantastic reviews and photos, I was amped up and excited to try Keke's Breakfast Café for the first time. With high expectations set by glowing reviews, I decided to order the fried chicken and waffles to compare them with the renowned dish at Metro Diner. Unfortunately, my anticipation turned into disappointment. The waffle was undercooked, squishy, and difficult to cut, lacking the crispiness that makes this dish enjoyable. The fried chicken resembled chicken tenders from a Swanson TV dinner, lacking the flavor and texture I had hoped for.
We didn’t raise any complaints while we were there, as the food was still edible, but it certainly didn't live up to the rave reviews. While I haven’t been overly impressed with Metro Diner, I would still choose it over Keke's any day. In Orlando, where the culinary scene is competitive and outstanding, the quality at Keke's fell short, especially for the $15 price tag on the fried chicken and waffles. Based on my experience living here for a year, I'd rate this dish a five out of ten.
My wife opted for a basic breakfast of potatoes, scrambled eggs, and an English muffin, which looked fine but, according to her, wasn’t compelling enough to warrant a return visit. The atmosphere at Keke's was pleasant but unremarkable—a standard diner setting. However, we were a bit concerned upon arrival as the place wasn’t busy, even though it was around noon on a Saturday, a time when diners like this are typically bustling.
In comparison, even Cracker Barrel, with its fast-food-like reputation, provides a better dining experience. With so many fantastic food options in Orlando, Keke's Breakfast Café will not be on our list for a...
