The beauty of the craft beer phenomenon is that there is no cookie cutter approach to making and serving beer. Each brewery has its own distinct vibe, target market, and atmospherics. That’s probably why I love visiting as many as possible, because it never gets old.
Ten10 has long been one of our favorites. It was one of our mandatories on the Central Florida Ale Trail back in 2017, when there were only about 16 breweries on the trail. It’s a little bigger now. And, thanks to the genius behind establishing these ale trails in the first place, we were able to sample pretty much everything Orlando had to offer at the time, which helped us form new preferences. That’s another way of saying we’ve been back many times.
Located alongside the Orlando Urban Trail in the Ivanhoe Park district, Ten10 certainly has a well-qualified audience from which to draw clientele. It has the look and feel of a neighborhood brewery, without pretense. Instead of looking and feeling like what an IKEA-owned brewery might appear, Ten10 and their hodgepodge display of beer cans and glass growlers either collected or donated through the years produces a vibe that reeks in authenticity. And we could tell from the NYE 2023 customers that we were the outliers, seated in a booth, while everyone else was at the bar, no doubt their standard M.O.
While the Speigensall was tapped out (7% ABV, a hazy IPA), I went with old standby East West (7% ABV, a standard American IPA). It did not disappoint. And since it was still the holiday season, I had a short pour of Bad Santa (6.5% ABV, a Brown Ale with a hint of winter seasoning). It left me feeling jolly, as much so as a visit a year ago left me happy after Santa’s White Christmas (7% ABV, a Golden Stout). We followed up with a huge pretzel, accompanied by beer cheese and a spicy mustard that was a little more horseradish than it was mustard.
It was all good, though, and we’ll be back...
Read moreI have never as been compelled to write a review of a business as I was today. As a manager in the customer service industry, I take reviews with a grain of salt. However, this is the 3rd time I've given this establishment a chance and once again I am disappointed.
My first time here was opening week. My friend and I were asked to come back in an hour after their business hours had already started because they weren't "ready for business."
The second time I came they were out of all their core beers so I had to order some experimental beer and their guest taps.
My third and final time was tonight. I was sure this would redeem them as they had the honor of tapping Bourbon County. Well, for a third time disappointed. We ordered at the beginning of the tapping time and were told not yet, however other people already had been served. We waited another 20 minutes as we watched more people get served. Eventually we relocated to another part of the bar and eventually got served.
I have been to many breweries and this by far is the worst. I know in Orlando we have limited choices but this place doesn't have brewery culture down. Keep your eyes open in 2016 for the next upcoming brewery who will know how to do things the...
Read moreTonight is our first visit and it is pretty tasty. We ordered the Coney Hot Dog $8, Grilled Cheese $6, Fl Tomato Tartine $8, sides of potato salad $2 and to drink Santa’s White Christmas Stout. They make their own hot dogs in house and it’s more the consistency of a beef sausage and flavorful. The Coney Dog is served on toasted Challah roll with chili(no beans) beer cheese, house made mustard and chopped onion. The grilled cheese is on toasted Pullman bread featuring Vermont cheddar cheese and Gouda. The Tartine is toasted open faced sourdough with heirloom cherry tomatoes, olive-pepper tapenade and melted Gouda. The Coney dog is a good size, tasty and filling, the grilled cheese is very tasty and the Tartine is also very flavorful. The potato salad is good although we would prefer the potatoes to be less chunky and a little more flavor in the mayo. The Santa’s White Christmas stout is a white stout with Barnies White Christmas coffee creating a smooth and really nicely flavored delight. This is a bar atmosphere that serves food. Definitely a place to return to fit us and definitely a place we recommend. There are several other menu items we want to try and we highly recommend the Santa’s White...
