If you're looking for a slice of Ireland right in your own backyard, look no further than The Castle Irish Pub and Restaurant! From the moment you step inside, you're greeted by a warm and inviting atmosphere that instantly transports you back to the cozy pubs of Doolin and Galway. The decor is charming, and the ambiance is just right for a relaxed evening out.
The menu is a delightful homage to traditional Irish fare. I couldn't resist trying the classic Fish and Chips, and it was everything I hoped for and more! The fish was perfectly light and crispy, and the accompanying mashed peas were the find of the night! Oh yeah, and the fries were prettydarn good as well.
What I felt truly sets The Castle apart, though, is the staff. They are incredibly friendly and attentive, always ready to offer recommendations or a helping hand with a smile. It felt like we were part of a big family, which made our experience even more enjoyable.
And let's not forget about the drinks! The extensive selection, including Guinness on tap and a variety of Irish whiskeys, is perfect for those looking to unwind. Plus, they always have the top sports events playing on the television, making it a great spot to catch a match with friends.
Overall, The Castle Irish Pub and Restaurant is a gem that combines delicious food, a welcoming atmosphere, and fantastic service. Whether you're a fan of Irish cuisine or just looking for a cozy place to relax, this pub is a must-visit. I can't wait to return for another round of those amazing Fish and...
Read moreI have a biased opinion about the food because I’ve been to Ireland and had the BEST Irish Food. I also understand that what some people believe is seasoning is not what I believe is seasoning. I ordered the Beef Stew. The temperature was luke warm. The first order was sent back because the stew was cold ish. When we told our server that the stew was cold, she took back our first order and not even five minutes later brought back a “fresh” order of stew. The “stew” is not a real stew. It’s for sure not an Irish stew with Guinness gravy. It’s very similar to meat and veggies covered in a very thick, non seasoned, brown gravy with a lump of mashed potatoes in the middle. Our server suggested the stew over the shepherds pie. She believed that the stew was better tasting than the shepherds pie. If that is the case, then shepherds pie at a grocery store would be a better experience. We went on a Friday night where they have a live performance. The restaurant is medium sized. So if your intention is to go and have good conversation then don’t go on a Friday night or on a night when they have live music because you won’t be able to hear anyone talk. I would say, if you’ve never been to Ireland and had amazing Irish food or if you’ve never been to a real Irish families potluck or barbecue then you will love this restaurant. But if you have, then you will be...
Read moreWhen I found out there was a new Irish pub opening up, I was skeptical. Orlando is not known for its Northern European cuisine and the location has had several businesses come and go over the recent years.
Nevertheless, I had to give the Castle a go and sure am excited after my first of many visits to The Castle. Honestly, I hope the place becomes an institution of College Park, similar to Fiddlers on the other side of I4.
With this being a new establishment, it isn't a reach to give a review based on first, second and final thoughts.
First thought: wow, this is actually much nicer than I anticipated. Should I have worn a collar? Look at the layout, the wood work. I'm impressed. A bit of an older crowd but it's college park so I wouldn't expect anything less.
Second thoughts: the wait staff are pretty incredible. Friendly, quick with a recommendation and seem to enjoy the jobs they have, even if it's for that moment. And the food, I had the bangers and mash (it's a staple) recommended by one of the bartender; I wasn't in love with it. BUT it was a fine choice for a first experience at the pub.
Final thoughts: What can I say? The place is great! I'm not sure exactly what it will turn out to be over the long haul but I'm excited to have a new go to place in the heart of college...
