First off, parking is a pain since it's on Colonial Dr. You'll most likely will find parking around the corner and will have to walk around to get to to here unless you get lucky. Second, it's nestled amongst other restaurants so it's a bit difficult to find. Within the cove, it's on the right towards the back. It's a pretty unassuming space and you may have to ring a button at the front to get service.
Anyways, decided to try out this place after grabbing some matcha ice cream at Matcha Cafe Maiko around the corner. The menu is focused on their bánh mì which is a French inspired Vietnamese sub. I went with the #1 House Special which had all the main fixings and is traditional. They also have homemade Asian style beef jerky too!
For the bánh mì, I highly recommend taking it home and popping it in an oven at 350 deg F for 2-3 minutes just to get the french bread cozy and warm. You can leave it in the wrapping like I did. It'll be fine as long as you don't forget it! I'd avoid putting it in the microwave since you don't necessarily want to get the insides and toppings warm--it's best at room temperature. You really just want to warm the bread up just a little.
Okay, now that I'm off my lecture, this is a really well put together bánh mì! The ratio and flavors were just right and everything complemented each other element perfectly! The slight crunch and chew from the baguette, the creaminess of the pate, the amount and thickness of the meat, the cilantro and pickled veggies. chef kiss I really enjoyed it compared to other bánh mì sandwiches that I have had because of the ratio here.
I also decided to get some of their homemade beef jerky. I ended up choosing the curry style, but they also had lemongrass and a pork jerky as well. The curry beef jerky is REALLLLY sweet with a nice subtle heat enveloped in a curry-based seasoning. Because of how sweet and seasoned it is, it would actually pair well pair well with some sticky rice or a rice porridge. Mmm...gonna...
Read moreI have been with this place since they first started couple months until now, but today was my last time I had come there. The owner and her husband were really rude to me. I ordered 3 toasted and 2 not toasted sandwiches ( the 6th= free one not toasted as well).
Toasted = $4/sub Not toasted $3.5
Here is their calculation: Buy 5 get 1 free. 5 not toasted x $3.5 =$18 ( they really need to learn how to multiply again because it is freaking $17.5 people!!!)
Any additional toasted $.50 each
According to their calculation: $18 (5 subs) + $0.50x3 = $19.5. They didn't have change, so they gave me a sandwich which had nothing inside because it's $0.50. Therefore, they charged me $20.
I was just wondering why they charged me that way and just gave me the plant sandwich without asking me because I calculated my total was $19 ( $3.5x5=$17.5 then add 3 toasted one $0.5x3= $1.5! Total should come out $19 ( $17.5+$1.5=$19)
The husband could not explain to me because I was right and the wife got back to the store and said she charged me $18 for 5 subs no matter what even tho $3.5/ sub??? It didn't make any sense, so I asked again. The husband wanted to jump in me to fight because they were so defensive.
I WAS SUPER DISAPPOINTED. Even tho I introduced so MANY FRIENDS to come and try it out. I introduced one of my friends to their place recently and he ordered different kind of food from their store for $50 after the first time I said a lot of good things about the store.
I WOULD NEVER COME BACK THERE. Even the sub is good, but with those attitudes, I don't think I can enjoy eating there anymore.
I WILL TELL ALL MY FRIENDS who were told about that place not to come to that place anymore.
PLEASE LEARN HOW TO DO BASIC MATH AND TREAT CUSTOMERS. This is AMERICA, not VIETNAM anymore!
PLEASE DONT COME HERE if you don't want to them to miscalculate your bill and try to...
Read moreBest Bahn Mi! I'm no Vietnamese cuisine tasting expert when it comes to their dishes, but today my brother and I were craving for some Bahn Mi sandwiches. We just moved here and are really new to the Orlando area. We have eaten at some other Vietnamese restaurant around the area and ordered Bahn Mi sandwiches from one of the restaurant (won't name where) before. It was okay but after eating the subs from Nha Trang, I'm pretty positive this will be my go to place when I'm craving for Bahn Mi subs or need some on the go for trips or for later. Small place but they specialize in Bahn Mi subs. When we enter, we were greeted nicely from a young lady and an elderly lady. Probably mother and daughter. Very welcoming. The young lady helped us with our order and told us some of the favorites customer order from them. There was so much to choose. 22 I believe at this time. Can't go wrong with the house special. She also talked to us and made us feel welcome. Shared us a few information about Orlando and the surrounding. I'm from the Midwest. This is by far the best Bahn Mi I ever had. It was perfect! Going to stick with Nha Trang Subs whenever I'm craving and will continue to be a loyal customer. Thank...
