Manny's Pizza House — Restaurant in Ormond Beach

I have been dining at Manny's since they opened over 30 years ago. Time and again, their food is outstanding and the service is wonderful! Thanks to our waitress, Mary! She has taken care of my family and I over the years and earlier today. I am always shocked by reviews on Google that criticize their food. Listen folks, this is not Dominos or NY pizza by-the-slice, and it is not Carrabba's (all of which I like), but if you crave those flavors, this is not for you. This is authentic italian/greek cuisine and anyone with a pallet for great food, will love it. The Greek Salad is legendary and their pizza is the best I have ever had! It is a bit confusing when deciding which type of crust you want. A traditional hand-tossed crust pizza is listed as a "Pan Original". When I think of a 'pan' crust, I think of a deep-dish Sicillian crust. That is not correct and it has been a frustration of mine for decades. I have moved away from the area and have come home to visit over the years and alway go to Manny's when I'm here. It is a MUST! But EVERY SINGLE TIME I order a pizza, I HAVE NO IDEA what I am ordering. I can understand some of the negative reviews about the pizza because if you think you are ordering a traditional "hand-tossed" and you get a thin crust, you definitely won't be happy. Here is the best explanation I can offer: On the menu 'Original Pan' = normal hand-tossed crust, and 'Thin Crust" is truly a very thin crust. If you can figure out how to order the right pizza, you will love it! If you are expecting Dominos pricing, go elsewhere. This is on another level and priced accordingly. For an appetizer, I recommend the garlic knots and a side of meatballs. They make everything to order, so if you are in a hurry, call ahead and place your order in advance. THANKS AGAIN...

After ordering by phone for pick up 1 special pizza, I was told it would be 30-35 minutes. No prob. I get there 35 min later and asked for my order. They NEVER made it. Lost in the metaverse I guess. The guy behind the counter making the pizzas said "I start it right now - be 10 15 minutes". I wait 21 minutes and go back up to the counter. "It'll be out in a minute" They had me pay for it. FULL PRICE mind you cuz fu*&$%g up someone's order doesn't get you - 1. an apology, -2 a complimentary drink while you wait extra time while they actually make your pizza or -3 No discount of any type for the extra wait and aggravation of being forgotten. Now for the pizza. TERRIBLE tasting. the cheese wasn't fully melted. The taste of the cheese lent my flavor buds to detect something off - molded, soured? cheese? Not sure, Plus mushrooms were dry and left a bad taste in my mouth. The crust - I'm not sure this is hand made or hand tossed. The outside end of the crust was extremely hard and the underside looked like it was premade type of dough and not hand tossed but I cannot say with 100% certainty. Food- truly awful, Service non-existent, a waitress had asked (while we were waiting on the second attempt) if we were ordering or picking up. After telling her our problem we got excuses and NO apology and no offer to make it right. MIND YOU I do not go into restaurants looking to be treated special. I go there to get what I ordered but WHEN you FORGET to make my food YOU OWE ME. An apology, some empathy, a couple bucks off my ticket, or even a complimentary drink while I wait through no fault of my own. Needless to say I will never go to Manny's pizza house again, NOT ANY of them. Back to...

Where do I start??!! Absolutely superb!! In the early 2000's I worked for Ashley Furniture Homestore which was a stone's throw from Manny's. Needless to say I became a huge fan quickly and ordered lunch from there weekly. All of the food is spectacular but my hands down favorite is the Stromboli. Yep, I go OG, cheese and meat sauce only... The only way to grub in my opinion. The point. I have always talked about, storied about, argued about and defended my opinion that Manny's has the best Stromboli on this planet!!! Tonight, almost 18 years later that opinion has been reconfirmed! Not a single thing has changed. It is still one of the friendliest, cleanest, welcoming and vintage places I've ever been to. AND THE FOOD!!!! OMG!!!! EXACTLY HOW I REMEMBERED IT!!! The Hot Stromboli is filled with a ton of cheese and meat sauce as well as a little extra on the side. The dough, clearly made fresh 10 seconds before prep( probably not 10 seconds) I'm just saying its crazy fresh and always cooked to percection!!! Crispy till the end on the outside and delicious dough on the inside. I honestly can't believe it was exactly the same. You literally can say about how many, 1 out of 1 million. I mean c'mon!! The pride this family brings to their kitchen is above all others I've encountered and in all areas of the restaurant! I say this as politely as I can, you're not so bright if you don't give this place a try immediately!! Thanks to the entire Manny's team for an exceptional dinner and a fantastic trip down memory lane!! We'll be sure to be back before we head out of town for another 18 years..... Best wishes for a...
