I can solemnly say that this was the worst meal I have had for as long as I can recall. We both ordered a 3-piece meal, classic recipe with mashed & gravy as the side. The meal comes with a biscuit; we took unsweetened iced tea for our drinks. I asked for butter for the biscuit for which they provided something labeled “Buttery Spread”; my girlfriend got the “Honey Sauce” for hers.
The person who took our order was nice, friendly, attentive, but what we were served was… well, read on.
We then drove the five minutes to James D. Kriegh park for our picnic. Upon opening the box… the chicken was anything but fresh or crispy — more like totally soggy fried breading that was falling off the somewhat undercooked pinkish bird. I would have taken pictures of the mess, but my fingers were already covered in grease, which had also covered my hands down to my wrists — grease everywhere. You’ll have to settle for the picture of the just-opened box — that’s the thigh on top, but the breast was equally bad. The mashed potatoes were average for fast food, nothing to complain about, but the gravy had a slight sweetness such that I wouldn’t be surprised to find it had HFCS (High Fructose Corn Syrup) in the list of ingredients.
Speaking of HFCS, it’s the first ingredient in the “Honey Sauce”, followed immediately by “Corn Syrup”. Honey is the fourth ingredient, right after sugar (Sugar? Do you really need to add sugar after the first two ingredients and the honey?), and then… fructose, because apparently this mess just isn’t sickly sweet enough for their average customer. As for the “Buttery Spread”, it’s an emulsion of Soybean Oil and Palm Oil with water… wholesome goodness a la Blue Bonnet.
But the biscuit was yummy; just don’t add the “Buttery Spread” unless you enjoy bad margarine and heart disease.
In summary, I guess the best part of the meal was the plain biscuit and iced tea. Otherwise, it was all pretty disgusting.
This was my first visit to a KFC in about… [paws for reflection]… 20 years, at the now defunct store on Tanque Verde near Kolb/Grant, and now that I recall, that was probably the last worst meal I have eaten. Comparing KFC to its contemporaries in the fried chicken space, even salty, puny Chick-Fil-A is vastly superior. If you’re looking for good fried chicken, I would recommend going to your Tucson-based Lucky Wishbone or at least Popeyes.
Shout out to the facilities crew at James D. Kriegh park for assuring there was plenty of soap in the restrooms to get all that KFC grease off my hands. I wonder if KFC has ever considered packaging that grease in small plastic bottles and selling it at Target next to the...
Read moreI feel like I can't even leave a 1 star review for this place! Please go elsewhere, it's a waste of time, and money!! We pulled in to the drive thru to order and the man immediately tells us we have to go inside, I said ohhh okay. So we go inside I start ordering, and the cashier, says let me see if we have that. Like what? So whatever he comes back after about 2 minutes and says okay we can do that but it will be about 8 minutes more, so I said okay that's fine it's only 8 minutes, you know.... I ordered a brownie and he didn't know if they had that either... So he checks and tells me they do so I pay, and then my brother ordered, and paid... Well we walked over to cookie crumbl and ordered and got or cookies and came back and the whole lobby was filled with people waiting for their food, so we sit down and patiently wait, and then my brothers order came out, and about 2 other people's orders came out, so I looked at my reicept and it had been about 35 minutes at this point... So I got up, and was standing at the counter waiting to ask where my order was, while a different cashier was taking another ladies order, I asked where my food was and said that it had been about 35 minutes, and his response was do you want a refund, I said no I want my food! He says that's not the question I asked you! I said excuse me are you the manager here because managers don't talk like that to their customers! He says yes I am! So at this point I started to raise my voice, as he was very disrespectful! I said your the manager on site!? And then a manager comes out, and starts talking to me, and some of the customers start bashing me, for "causing a scene" as there was other angry customers in the lobby. At this point I am trying to get my refund back! Well this lady comes and gets in my face, and tells me she's going to drag me out to my car by my hair, so I just continue to proceed with getting my refund, and the cashier says is that your man, you better get him because I don't handle females! I said that's my brother, but what is that any of your business? As I'm walking out the lady is threatening to hit me, and is following me as I was walking out, and the cashier chases after the lady and tells her not to hit me!!!! So my brother closed the door to prevent her from hitting me! Manager was also very unprofessional handling the refund as well! I mean if they were short handed he should have been out on the floor...
Read moreThird party delivery contractors should avoid this location at all cost. On multiple occasions have gone to drive-thru to be told you need to come inside and call customer because we are out of chicken. Once inside no staff member will greet or respond to inquiries about order. Staff members will mop a lobby that has been closed all day in silence and stare out at the sunset instead of fulfilling order or responding to driver. I Even put customer on speaker and at that point one employee managed a sentence we don't have white meat chicken til tomorrow. When customer requested they cancel order as customer was unable to cancel due to driver being at store the staff becomes mute again and went back to enjoying the sunset. This has happened multiple different occasions, will not go back, recommend no third party driver pickup from here.
Recommend no customer order from here as they will usually not have the order and it will be a headache to get a refund.
Tried calling kfc corporate multiple times but the rep just hangs up once they realize they may have to do some work and fill out a complaint to the store and not just hear a person venting that also happened multiple times.
I will not return for delivery or in general and could not stress enough how bad this establishment really is. And as for the owner of this place you're paying $50+ an hour to have peopll standing around doing nothing, check your security feed at dinner and see for yourself. I imagine 2 or 3 people can not get orders out just as...
