Please note: I am posting this for my dad, David. (I type MUCH faster, and he doesn't have a google+ account to my knowledge.) ^_^ ++++ Before anyone takes my rating at face value, please read the post in it's entirety to understand WHY the rating is so low, even though I normally love this particular Subway location. ++++
I haven't been to this subway in a month or so (I don't eat pre-made sandwiches all that often these days), but normally they make a delicious sandwich with fresh ingredients.
Today (August 10th, 2016) however, my sandwiches were horrible, and the service was even worse.
I wanted two sandwiches, one tuna, the other turkey. She pulled out the bread types I requested, placed them both down, and started in on both.
She put some turkey on one, and moved on to make the next sandwich.
Now, normally they scoop around 4 large scoops of tuna onto the sandwich and press it to even it out a little. This time, they scooped 4 scoops that looked to be about half full (perhaps a little less), and they smeared it around to make a laughably thin coat on the bread (somewhere around 3/8ths of an inch thick). I requested my server kindly but in no uncertain terms to please add some extra tuna (the tuna container was at least half full still, so I know they weren't simply low or out), and the server (an african american lady) wouldn't acknowledge what I said, instead choosing simply to move my sandwich along, making eye contact and smiling without any other response.
She then proceed to REMOVE SOME OF THE TURKEY SHE HAD ALREADY PLACED ON MY OTHER SANDWICH after my request for more tuna, and the experience only goes down hill from there. (If I hadn't been exceptionally hungry and short on time, I would have just walked out right then and there without the sandwiches, but also without paying for that ridiculous joke they called sandwiches. Next time that happens, walking out is EXACTLY what I am doing!)
The other lady (caucasian) behind the counter was polite, but I could tell that my server was in a higher job position there, because she backed down every time my server gave her a sideways look that just oozed "you're not going to say or do ANYTHING".
I wanted to get some lettuce, but one look at the wilted yellow mass speckled with occasional brown spots and the tiniest of green here and there they called lettuce quelled that idea fast. I even commented on the lettuce saying something along the lines of "Looks like you're getting to the bottom of the barrel on that lettuce", but all I got was the same disconcerting smile.
When I mentioned spinach, the african american lady said "I don't like spinach"... I thought to myself (but didn't say) "Okay? That's nice and all, but you aren't the one who is going to be eating or paying for this, so what do you care?" The caucasian lady just looked at me and visibly paled in the face with a look in her eyes and the slightest of head shakes from over the server's shoulder. Looking down in the container, the spinach was... "slightly wilted and soupy" looking is the best way I can describe it, so that was right out as well.
Finally, I just resigned myself to the respective meats of each sandwich with mayo, tomato, and onion.
Again, this particular location is normally WONDERFUL. I even met the current owner when he had a construction crew doing some renovations a few years back (Gary, I think his name was) and we had a short but pleasant conversation about his plans for the little sandwich shop.
But for whatever reason, they've hired an employee into what appears to be a position of authority who seems dead set on making the worst... I hesitate to call it "food"... that I have seen in over years.
I certainly won't be returning for a while if this keeps up.
For anyone wondering, the receipt says the time was 3:40:51 PM and that my server was "Alexis", but the caucasian lady rang up my ticket so I think that's her name and not the name of the employee who made my sandwiches as well as made this one of the most miserable food purchases I have had in...
Read moreI was there today on 7/25/25 during the lunch rush around 12pm and I had ordered a head and I arrived around like 10 minutes later and I came in and I asked âHey I have a online pick up â And the Girl worker doing the sandwiches was being very rude about me asking if it was ready and she said she didnât see my order and she said â I donât get orders until 15 minutes laterâ Which I get and I wasnât Saying anything or being rude or anything I was waiting and I had made a joke saying âthatâs funny cause every time I come in theyâre always ready right awayâ Which I didnât really mean to be rude I was just laughing because itâs true. Every time I walk in there itâs always ready and Iâm surprised itâs not like I was standing there. Demanding my sandwich because I knew it was ready like no I expected to see the ready or not itâs not that big of a deal, but you do not have to be rude about it. (it popped up right after she said that) . So she made my sandwich and then another girl worker came up next to her doing another sandwich next To her and they were both whispering and looking at me talking smack Iâm not sure what they said, but I definitely shouldnât be talked about especially if Iâm being nice as a customer And...
Read moreUsed to go to this location multiple times a week. After how I was just treated I will never return. Went to refill my drink from the lunch that my wife got me while still running errands in town. The rude employee then tried to confront me as if Iâm stealing a drink. I have the cup and everything. still has cold ice in it! Proceeded to argue with me then film me and follow me outside taking pictures. Then refused to give district managers number. Claimed âwe donât have one of thoseâ. Losing a customer that comes in multiple times a week Over a drink that costs your company fractions of a Cent? Thatâs how you wanna treat people? This place will go out of business soon just like the rest.
I made sure to go back in and throw them a 20$ for the drink I already paid for- since they seem to wanna treat me like a bum. Thatâs the last $ I will ever spend at any subway in Oroville. Good riddance. You donât treat...
