I’m new to Oroville and originally from Sacramento. I’m also Mexican American. With all that being said my standards for Mexican food are very high! So here’s my honest review. We ordered chicken tamales, a chicken chimichanga, and a super enchilada aka a wet burrito. The tamales taste like a wet napkin. The chimichanga was decent. My super enchilada was bland and I’m sure the “mole sauce” came from a can. I agree with the other reviews that say tortilla is hard to cut and hard to chew. The most frustrating part was when I called and asked if the horchata was made in house and she said yea it’s “fresh.” Come to find out they use a premix and it came from a fountain dispenser. Not worth spending almost $50. On a positive note I received good customer service as she recommended a Mexican market located in a near by town and she held the door open for me. I would not recommend this place if you have...
Read moreTacos Tijuana is located in the plaza next to Big Lots, a notorious location that often can be an unsuccessful location for restaurants.
Customer service was fine, as all the staff were friendly, and were quick to table.
Food came out quickly, about 6 - 8 minute wait.
I ordered #35 a received a pretty plate of beans, rice, guacamole, chunky salsa, and shrimp glazed in butter and garlic with a red tinted sauce. The beans and rice were alright, but not warm, but also not overly salted like some other restaurants can sometimes push out.
The shrimp had their tails unfortunately and were only just warm, but that's not to distract from the that was sauce on the shrimp.
It was sweet, just hot enough, spiced well, and was definitely the strongest part of the meal.
Overall, it would be 7.3 out of 10, and I...
Read moreI've walked by this place multiple times while shopping on the plaza, and one day I finally thought, "Why not?"
I've tried their Tacos Grande Al Pastor, Super Burrito with Carne Asada and Torta.
The Torta wasn't bad, but not something I would order again as I could get a sandwich elsewhere. The burrito was one of the best I've had. They distribute the toppings perfectly, and their sauce is really good. But my favorite are their Tacos Grande al Pastor. I always get like 4 of them. They always give you complimentary tortilla chips. Salsa could be a little hotter though.
They're a bit more expensive then some other Mexican restaurants, but for the quality, portion sizes, and item variety it's worth it. Very tasty...
