My wife and I have been here 8 times over the last 6 months. Regardless of the two star food rate, the food is great. The two stars is for the COFFEE! It's deplorable.

If I had to hazard a guess, they're either using too many grounds per batch, or their machines are just old and putting out horrible taste from the lines. It's not just a fluke either, because at first we would order the coffee every time we went thinking it would get better, but it never did. When we go now, we just get juice. Such a disappointment too, because when we want to go out for breakfast, we want coffee with that breakfast. We were going to try to go out today, 30 APR 2024, but the coffee dissuaded us. So, we went somewhere else.

With that out of the way, the menu is actually fantastic. It's a smaller menu compared to places like Delta and even Apple Valley. The Country benny is awesome, I've gotten it 3 times. Their regular eggs benny is well made as well, the hollandaise is a bit bland, but otherwise a solid choice. The omelets are well made as well, they don't overcook the eggs. My wife usually gets the pancakes, and they're very big. The hashbrowns are well made, I always get a double order because I can't get enough. Biscuits and gravy are sizable. The cooks know what they're doing, out of the 8 times we've been, we've never been disappointed at the actual food. We got the Diablo Wrap, I think it's called, once, and that was also very good. The portion sizes are on par for what you pay; there's definitely value there.

Service is pretty average, nothing special, nothing bad. Nobody has been rude or anything. When it's busy, and it is usually busy, service can be a little slow, but that's expected and in no way hindered our enjoyment. As far as atmosphere, it's a little dated, kinda drab, but we don't care. There are no surprises, you go for breakfast, expecting a good breakfast diner, that's what you'll get. Just don't...

Ordered take out and had awful service as my boyfriend and I stood at the counter waiting to be noticed by the worker on his phone. Said nothing to us and when I asked if we could add on a slice of pie, he didn’t give any response. The waitress working helped us out a little more as she could tell the male employee was not doing his job. She packaged up the French silk pie that I chose (which I was already disappointed because I expected them to have fresh baked pie but they pulled this out of a package I could have gotten at the grocery store). She said we were lucky we got the last two slices! When we got home, we were poorly met with the most wretched meal I’ve ever had. We both got chicken strips which came with fries and coleslaw, and each a bowl of chicken dumpling soup. The chicken strips were burnt and seemed as though they’d been badly freezer burned before cooked. No taste but burnt breading. The fries were soggy and tasteless. And the coleslaw smelt as if it had sat out on the counter for two days. It was not the right consistency either and tasted sour and awful. I was hoping the soup would be better, but I was mistaken. It had no flavor and nothing in the “broth” beside the dumpling. I laughed to my boyfriend as we mentioned that at least they couldn’t mess up the store bought dessert !!! But as we peeled off the old whipped cream topping, we found the MOLD over both entire slices. Overall the most regrettable dining experience and not even for a great price. Will not...

This little diner has been around for a long time, has a strong following of regulars and I always love going there! Many of the employees have been there for 15+ years and the breakfast cook just celebrated her 30th anniversary with the restaurant! The food is very basic, no gluten free anything here or flavored creamer but everything is served with a smile and usually comes out super fast! A server at a different popular breakfast place told me Mike's has the best biscuits and gravy in town. Also Mike's has bacon with chocolate chip pancakes and a delicious Mexican breakfast wrap. I frequent many of the breakfast joints in town and this is by far the friendliest! It is one big family here between the customers and the wait staff and you will often find them exchanging stories and catching up with what has been going on in their lives. It is also a popular place for out of towners when they visit Oshkosh and I know the restaurant really looks forward to these special events guests. Another thing I love is that Mike's Place has the best prices in town and truly cares about their patrons. On Saturdays and Sundays it is not unusual for them to have a line to the door so get...

Unseasoned food, ordered to go for the chicken dumpling soup, sausage and bisctus Benedict with hashbrowns, and a side of corned beef hash. The soups to go container lid MELTED into the soup and had cracked plastic in the soup, spilled inside the bag. I attempted to get all the pieces out tasted a sip and the soup was SOUR. The side of corned beef hash tasted old, not even salt or pepper seasoning. The sausage and eggs Benedict was tasty, the eggs I had were over easy and cooked perfectly, the biscuits were dry, I added my own seasoning to the hashbrowns as again NOT seasoned at all. Definitely not worth the 30$ as most of it ended up in the trash. I will be making a call to the food inspectors (auditor) about the plastic lid in my soup. Definitely not safe food handling practices.

A friend and I flew in from Georgia on a business trip, we like finding the Mom and Pop places to eat. Well Mikes Place was right at 5 miles from the hotel but with Google Maps we were there in a jiffy. The Sunday special was Broasted Chicken after we discussed how they made Broasted Chicken with Sam behind the counter our friendly waitress Taylor recomended that and their homemade rootbeer. Well let this Georgian tell you, Mikes Broasted Chicken is better than any chicken I have ever had, between the homemade rootbeer and the friendly staff we will be back for more. After I ate the four piece chicken combo and forgetting to take a picture I couldn't help but take a picture of this old time working phone on my way out the door.

Picked up a Mexican Breakfast Wrap and a piece of apple pie on my way to work this morning. This will be enough for my breakfast and lunch today and at least breakfast again tomorrow. $15, including tip. That’s not much more than I pay at McDonald’s and I got real food and three times as much. Can’t wait to dig in! I’m also recommending the haddock. I tried it a couple of weeks ago and it was delicious and perfectly cooked.
