Recently moved to the area and have gotten pizza here several times. Pretty decent, very cheesy, great crust. Only thing I can take issue with besides missing 1 inch on their large is the sauce is always a bit skimpy, so last time I ordered I asked for heavy sauce.
They said extra sauce when i picked it up and kind of surprisingly even charged me for an extra topping, which is a bit excessive but would have been totally fine except that when I got home and started eating it I was surprised to instead find very very little sauce, if they didnt charge or say it when i walked in i wouldve thought they misheard on the phone for light sauce.
My daughter had one piece out of the whole pie that could have been called extra sauce, but I had one that had pretty much none at all, just a slight tinting of red, the rest honestly seemed like less sauce than normal.
Also pizza was really overdone, the first time had had issue with that here, presumably was to cook the extra sauce (that wasn't present) but the cheese was too far gone, and was hard, not the usually stringy flowing goodness like it usually is here.
But yeah at most places normally just saying go heavy on sauce they put a little extra on, usually for free or less than a whole topping since its not really a topping per se, but after paying extra for it i would have expected at least a noticeable amount on the entire pie, as paid extra topping should be globs here and there erupting up through the cheese.
couldnt even eat most of the under crust cause despite "extra sauce" was even more dry than normal. will try again, someday and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy husband and I decided to grab a bite to eat at White Lakes Pizza after finishing our laundry at Danforth Bay Campground on a cold but lazy Thursday night. I must say that is a very clean restaurant with a charming atmosphere. However, it will be a LONG time before we return to this establishment. Why? #1. They're very expensive! We ordered two sodas, one large sub, one small pizza, and an order of onion rings. The cost = $45. #2. My husband's sub was yummy and satisfactory. The onion rings were good but my pizza tasted "strange". All I can describe it as is if someone poured a whole bottle of stout on it before placing the pizza in the oven. #3. I got extremely sick! I vomited almost the whole night after eating only a few slices of that "strange" pizza. My husband ate the rest of it and had the same comment that it tasted like it was soaked in beer. #4. We've been to White Lakes Pizza a few times and noticed that there is some serious tension between the workers. They're not the friendliest bunch but there's some drama between the woman behind the counter and the wife of a man who eats...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe used to stop by here many Friday evenings for take out pizza when it was Oliver's. Since re-opening as While Lake, the pizza has gone down hill. First time we went, the pizza was so greasy and soggy, we ended up trying to soak it in with a paper towel, but very flimsy and ended up tossing some of it. Second time, the toppings on the veggie pizza were very good, but the crust was was like it wasn't cooked except for the outer edge. The taste of the crust was better when it was Oliver's and prepared better. White Lake may put a little more toppings (not much more), but overall taste of the pizza was better at Oliver's. For now, we just go to Yankee Smokehouse. You will pay a few bucks more for the pizza, but the taste is better and they cook the crust, so it's worth the extra in...
