Cigar & Smoke — Local services in Ossipee

If you live in the Wolfeboro area, your options for smoke shops are pretty abysmal. There’s only two stores that I know of that carry disposable vapes at all in town, and both are corner stores that only have a very small selection for an unreasonable price. Most usually make the trip to Johnny D’s in Ossipee, but if you ask me, their prices are also unreasonable (Some vapes being $25+), and the fact that in 2023 they are STILL a cash only establishment, forcing customers to pay an ATM fee on top of their purchase, is beyond me. On top of all of this, the norm in this area is for stores to close very early in the “off” season, typically around 6-7pm. All three of these stores follow that norm and close very early.

So, why am I telling you this? Because 2 weeks ago, I drove out to Ossipee to pick up groceries. When I was leaving the store, I went to hit my disposable vape, and found that it had died. No worries, Johnny D’s is just down the road, I’ll go pick one up on my way home. I check the time. 6:01pm. I’m unsure of the exact time Johnny D’s closes, so I cross my fingers and drive down there. I arrive at 6:05. As I pull in, I watch a woman turn off the lights, walk out the front door, and lock it behind her.

If you’re a smoker, I’m sure you’re familiar with the panic I started to feel. I had no idea where I was going to go. I drove to the gas stations down the road and checked to see if they had what I needed, which to no surprise, they did not.

Sitting in the parking lot of the last gas station I had checked, feeling defeated, I decided to pull out my phone and search for a smoke shop nearby. I didn’t have much hope, because as far as I knew, Johnny D’s was the only one in a 30 mile radius. To my surprise, this shop popped up in my search. I’ll be honest, the way it’s listed online makes it look a little sketchy. Theres no website and the phone number doesn’t seem to work, but it had a few good reviews, said it was open online, and I was desperate, so I took the chance on driving out to it. It was only 15 minutes straight down the road, and my only other option was to go without.

When I pulled in to this stores parking lot, I was very pleasantly surprised. A neon sign in the window was on and told me that they were, in fact, open. My panic melted away. I parked, walked up to the front doors (there are two separate entrances; one for the alcohol section and one for the smoke shop section, another thing I appreciated) and entered the store.

Upon walking in to the smoke shop entrance, I was astonished. The selection is, in a word, ridiculous. The entire back wall of the shop is basically lined to the ceiling with disposable vapes. I didn’t get a good look around at much else but it seemed incredibly expansive. Lots and lots of glass pieces and accessories galore.

The man who greeted me at the counter was super friendly and helpful. He wasn’t pushy or anything while I was looking at all the vapes, trying to find the specific one I was looking for and pick out a flavor. The vape I buy is usually $22-$25, but at this store, it’s $20, and yes, they accept credit/debit cards.

That sealed the deal for me. I will never buy a vape from Johnny D’s again!! This store is just ASTRONOMICALLY better. A better selection, a nicer store, cheaper prices, and NO ATM NECESSARY! Can’t speak highly of this store enough.

Seriously, if you live in the area, THIS is your best choice for...

They have a really limited selection of cigars and the cigars they do have are priced higher than normal. Their humidors also seem rather dry as both the cigars I bought cracked when I cut and smoked them. Not to mention I had to look carefully through which ones I grabbed as many of them were already cracked and damaged. I gave two stars because the guy at the counter was pleasant...

Anything you could possibly need for your various smoking needs, this store has. Disclaimer, I don't smoke personally, so I can't attest to the smoke products, but it has a nice feeling to the store, not grungy or unkempt.
