My buddy Matt claims this place changed his life. He doesn't speak about his past much, however he did share one wild story with me.
Ok so it all began in Aurora 1980s. Apparently a developer wanted to come in and tear down his childhood neighborhood. He was around 13 or so. Furious Matt and his buddies took off on their BMX bikes. They wound up near Two Brothers Roundhouse in Aurora. Wasn't called that back then I'm told. It was originally constructed in 1856 as a roundhouse for the Chicago & Aurora Railroad (later Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Railroad) and served in this capacity until 1974. It was abandoned until 1995, when a group of investors led by Walter Payton purchased it and converted the building to an entertainment complex.
Prior to Payton buying the property it was abandoned. Matt and his buddies would sneak in. Anyways one day they discovered a tunnel that lead underground to a secret cavern that lead to Lake Michigan. Going deeper into the cavern lead to a lake. Matt didn't have the guts to explore the cavern until the day came his neighborhood was slated to be demolished.
Matt and his buddies had had it, so off to the roundhouse they pedaled. Entering the tunnel they quickly discovered they weren't alone. Apparently some bank robbers had been hiding out in the cavern. So they split up and hid. Matts buddy Kriss got lost and ran into a guy chained to a wall. This was no ordinary guy. He was 8 foot tall. Luckily Kriss always had a couple babyruth's on him so he and the chained up guy instantly became buds. Kriss unlocked the chains and caught up with the group.
As they continued deeper into the cavern it opened up into a large underground lake. Out in the middle sat an old pirate ship. Water was shallow so they approached the ship and went on board. Going below deck they discovered treasure. Pirate treasure. Matt immediately filled his pockets with precious gold and gems.
He could buy his neighborhood back he explained. Footsteps could be heard above. It was the bank robbers. Matt and his friends triggerd some booby traps when taking the gems causing the ship to become free from its anchor. Drifting out near the edge of the cavern walls they became lose and fell revealing Lake Michigan. Matt and his buddies escaped with the treasure. He was able to pay the developer off and save his...

The menu is a delightful mix of frozen custard creations that will leave you spoiled for choice. Whether you’re a fan of sundaes, concretes, or simply a classic cone, Andy’s delivers a creamy, indulgent experience every time.
What sets Andy’s apart from the rest is the quality of the custard itself. It’s rich, velvety, and smooth, with a perfect balance of sweetness. Made fresh every hour, the custard is denser and creamier than typical ice cream, which gives it a satisfying texture that keeps you coming back for more. The variety of toppings and mix-ins is also impressive, with options ranging from fresh fruit to decadent brownies and hot fudge.
I’ve tried several of their signature items, but my personal favorite is the “Jack and Diane”—a chocolate custard mixed with strawberries and hot fudge. It’s the ideal combination of flavors and textures. Andy’s also offers seasonal specials, so there’s always something new to try.
The customer service at Andy’s is consistently excellent. The staff is friendly, efficient, and always willing to offer recommendations if you’re undecided. The atmosphere is casual and welcoming, making it a perfect spot for a family outing or a late-night dessert run.
Overall, Andy’s Frozen Custard is a must-visit for anyone who appreciates high-quality frozen treats. It’s a place where indulgence meets quality, and I can’t...
