I have to say this was a first time experience because I felt like I was in a kitchen nightmare episode. Came in for dinner with the family and the floor slick from a greasy mopping should have been the sign to walk back out. We started with an appetizer of fried ravioli which tasted like frozen ones from Walmart. Was nice that they served warm bread, but the bread was just white hoagie buns with garlic butter spread on it with too much store bought Parmesan cheese and burnt. There were 4 us total, ordered Parmesan platter, spaghetti and meatballs, garden salad, and linguini piccata. What I can’t believe was that they had the gal to serve the salad with, honest to god, rotten tomatoes. SHRIVELED, BLACK SPOTTED, ROTTEN TOMATOES!! The linguini was watery with rubbery chicken. The spaghetti had bland marinara with two frozen meatballs. The Parmesan platter was soaked in olive oil, covered in store bought Parmesan cheese and garnished with frozen vegetables medley. My mother was the one who ordered the salad and she unfortunately didn’t bring her glasses. So we were all about 3-4 bites in until I noticed her moving around one of these disgusting tomatoes attempting to stick with her fork. Once realizing that we all lost our appetite and decided to end our dinner. Service was not good as the server was nearly nonexistent. So shocked at seeing rotten tomatoes on a plate that I felt it would be a crime to not write...
Read moreIn a nutshell, it was super busy, they were on their first day with the new menu, and it was crazy. They did the best they could. I cant knock them for that. It also helps that I've been here before so I'll give them points for that too
Food: Better last time than this time. I did the Italian Feast both times. Great food, just that this time the sauce was a bit runnier, and lasagna didn't have as much flavor. I also got a shrimp ravioli in there somehow, which would have been a huge problem for someone with a shellfish allergy, but I like shrimp so it was okay. Salad and bread are great additions. Marsala was really good too.
Service: He came by just frequently enough to make sure we weren't uncomfortable. Food took a little long, but again, busy and new menu.
Atmosphere: It's very basic, but they make it work. I like the wall decor and the open kitchen is a definate change from normal italian. It's different and has that East Coast Italian vibe in it somewhere.
Overall good. I went ahead and errored on the side of 5/5, but would probably be a 4-4.5 for the price point. Mainly, I boost them for trying and being a class act in a difficult time. Seems...
Read moreWe love authentic Italian food, so we tried Nico and Anna's for lunch today. It is in a strip mall, so the interior is fairly plain, but once you feel the warmth of the friendly people who work there, you won't notice it a bit.
The food is absolutely amazing. All the pasta is made fresh in house and prepared to perfection. My wife got the fettuccine with chicken and I got the lasagna, both with house salads for only $8.99 each. Both were authentic and perfect.
Miguel was our server. He is very nice and knowledgeable with professionalism you would expect in a restaurant with white tablecloths.
After lunch we took a moment to say thank you to the chef and spoke with the owners for a short time. They were all very gracious. I learned many of the recopies have been handed down over generations and originated in Italy. My only regret is we didn't save room for dessert. We saw some desserts being delivered to another table, and they looked delicious.
I strongly recommend Nico and Anna's and can't wait until we return, which I can assure you...
