Red Robin Gourmet Burgers and Brews — Restaurant in Overland Park

The server we had was very nice. She just wasn’t very good at serving. She brought our drinks out to us told us she would back with fries, came back to the table behind us and talked to those guest about trying to get a job with them (I could hear the whole conversation I was less than 2 feet away.) Which is whatever but she didn’t come back to our table until almost 10-15 minutes after bringing the drinks to ask us for our order, told us again she would bring us fries because she still hadn’t. Finally brings them out with the food. I had asked for honey mustard. I don’t even know what kind of sauce she brought me, it was good but not what I had asked for. Both of our burgers were messed up. I asked for no onions. My boyfriend asked for extra bacon. I got onions and extra bacon on my burger.. didn’t feel the need to complain at the time just ate our food. We had also ordered shakes with our meal.. server came over when we were about halfway done with our food. My boyfriend asks about the shakes, she said she was going to get it. Disappeared for a while. Comes back to tells us.. she made the ice cream, but forgot about it so it’s melting all over the place and wanted to know if we wanted it in to go cups.. mind you I’m still in the middle of eating. So we tell her no we would like it here.. she brings the ice cream over. I ask her if I can get honey mustard, I don’t bring up the fact she brought the wrong sauce the first time because it wasn’t that deep… after asking for the sauce I hear her again go up to the table behind us and say “I got your honey mustard” to which they reply “we didn’t ask for that” she then brings it over to me and idk if those people touched it or anything so I didn’t even use it because I heard her take it to the other table before us. I’m not usually one to complain but this was a really disappointing experience. I don’t know if our server was on medication or something else. Her pupils were the size of the moon. Let me start out by saying this place has THE BEST staff! I don't know what lottery they won, but everyone who works here is happy, friendly, and good at their jobs! The 3 Friday night hostesses were sweet and professional even though there were a million people clamoring to get into the building, and the one with glasses (didn't catch her name) seemed like she was absolutely loving life and chatted with us on the way to our table. Our booth was intimate feeling due to the large divider in the room, so even though the restaurant was full, it didn't feel oppressive. Our waiter, Jawid, was working his (first?) night as a waiter, and did a great job! He was thorough explaining the menu options, confirmed our order, and was also extremely friendly. I am a vegetarian who can't eat gluten, and he made sure we had the right order, checking in that I got the gluten free bun I ordered.

Now, the food. We have eaten A LOT of Impossible burgers, and my husband said this place has the best one he's ever had. (He had the Burnin' Love burger with Impossible). It was nicely charbroiled and cooked to perfection, with a good ratio of toppings to burger. And the garlic fries, oh the garlic fries. So good, topped with actually bits of garlic and garlic oil. I ordered the regular Impossible burger and it came with a tasty relish, tomato, onions, and lettuce. Everything was fresh and crisp, and the sweet potato fries were thinly cut and crispy, too.

Usually, I hate going out on Friday nights due to the crowds. But this place felt homey and fun, and we even heard several rounds of birthday songs sung by the staff. It's so busy because everyone else clearly feels how welcoming the staff is and wants to be a part of it. If you're thinking about eating here, just don't.

We've become regulars over the years because RR has a lot of dietary-friendly foods. A few weeks ago we went in and ended up waiting almost 45 minutes without acknowledgement (despite asking a server and then the host/manager). I contact RR and never got a response on the experience.

We decided to give it another try this last week and it was another bad experience. In the time it took our server to come over and ask us about drinks another table had been seated, got drinks and got an appetizer. Our server then brought out multiple baskets of fries but never our drinks, despite us asking a second and then third time. He finally brought them and then never acknowledged us again. Another server brought out the food. Mine was very obviously wrong and I nicely mentioned this, so she took it back to be remade. My partner's food was also wrong which we realized after the fact. It took over 20 minutes before my corrected food was brought out and the bun was frozen, toppings were missing, and there was an obscene amount of mayo on it. We waited for another ten minutes or so, flagged down another server and then waited but ever had anyone else acknowledge us. Paid via kiosk and left a not-nice review. Left feedback on the website and never got a response.
