Edited* Rise and Shine reached out and advised the brine was likely the reason why the chicken was so salty, and offered to take care of me next time I was in the area. Mistakes happen, I am willing to give them another shot. Upgraded from 1-2
I was really excited to try this place.
I tried the location on 135th and Metcalf this past Thursday morning . There were two or three other customers in there. I ordered the four-piece chicken strip meal with fries. I was slightly disappointed no drink was included with the meal, but not a deal breaker.
The staff were really nice. The place was clean, great looking menu with some really exciting options, and the prices were not too high. I thought I made a great choice.
My order was done in a decent amount of time. The food appeared to be cooked to order. I arrived at my job a few minutes away. I opened the box, everything was still hot and fresh and looked really good.
I tried a fry while I opened my sauce packs-all I tasted was salt, to the point where I felt nauseous. This was beyond your normal level of salt for fried food. This was "maybe the salt shaker lid fell off mid shake and a mountain of salt was dumped on my food" level of salt.
I tried a piece of chicken, same thing. The food was extremely salty. I had two co workers try the chicken and fries, and were in agreement that the level of salt on the food was beyond normal.
I could not eat the chicken or fries and tossed them, but I still had the biscuit. I tried the biscuit, it looked really good, but that was also a disappointment- dry and tasted like baking soda.
I basically spent eleven bucks to line my work trash can. Sucks too, because I had high hopes for this place. Disappointing food
You guy shave a great concept but the salt level on the chicken makes it not edible. Maybe you had a bad batch of biscuits that morning, but they were hard, dry and tasted like...
ย ย ย Read moreWe tried Rise for a birthday brunch and were really pleased with it. I got the righteous chicken on a biscuit. My son got the chicken tender box. My husband and daughter got the bacon egg and cheese biscuits. The biscuits were tender, chicken was juicy and flavorful, and the bacon was cooked very nicely. The fountain drinks were reasonably priced and well mixed. They have vegetarian options, though I didn't try them today. We spent about $12 per person.
My kids weren't too jazzed about the seasoning on the fries and tots. My husband and I enjoyed it though. I'm a bit of a ranch snob, and I liked their ranch. It's not a dilly ranch, more peppery and savory. I'd absolutely eat here again.
I marked down for service, not because the service was poor. It was actually mostly automated. No one takes your order. A kiosk takes your order. The only human interaction from the staff is when they give you your bag of food. No trays, nothing to wash, all disposable. So I can't give 5 stars for service when it isn't really a service type of place. I'd still go back. I just know what to expect now.
Atmosphere got marked down because the chairs are super loud when they scrape the floor. A little felt on the bottoms of the legs would fix...
ย ย ย Read moreRise Southern Biscuits & Righteous Chicken is one of the highest quality breakfast establishments Iโve visited in recent years. The fried chicken is some of the best Iโve had in all of Kansas, and their biscuits compliment the chicken perfectly. The Southern Chicken biscuit with pimento cheese and bacon is my personal favorite, and I would absolutely recommend to anyone who is unsure on what to get. The atmosphere was impeccable, it was modern, yet I felt right at home, and the speakers were always playing the latest and greatest in current music. I have to give my compliments to the chef for producing the highest quality in fried chicken, with a special thanks to our server, Harley, who was kind and made me and my party feel right at home at this establishment. While it may not be in the most obvious location, Rise is worth the visit, and if youโre looking for fantastic chicken that rivals that of Popeyes or Chic-Fil-A, Rise is the place to go. I know Iโll be visiting Rise again the next time I need my fill of delicious chicken...
