UPDATE: I'm sorry to do this, but I'm dropping my rating to 1 star because of their waitlist policy. Getting breakfast in this town requires getting in line, always. Waitlists exist so that I can plan ahead and not have to sit outside a restaurant. This morning, we got in the waitlist here and it said there was a 20 - 30 minute wait. When we arrived, 20 minutes later, they said they had to put every walk-in ahead of us, so it would be a 35-minute wait. That's unacceptable. That's not how a waitlist works. There is a simple fix: don't lie to your customers by offering a waitlist that isn't a waitlist. No other breakfast restaurant in town does this. Please fix this.
We are breakfast fanatics, and we've been to every great breakfast place in town, and this might be our new favorite. Keep reading... I don't make that claim lightly.
First, I love the menu. You can get all of the breakfast staples you love, plus SEVERAL extremely unique creations. I'll post a picture of one half of their menu (I got distracted by the food and drink and forgot to get the other side), and you'll see what I mean.
Second, the food was excellent. My wife is an eggs benedict lover, so she got their seasonal "Shrimp & City Grits Benedict". The hollandaise sauce was great. The eggs were poached perfectly (she's a stickler about that, as you would expect). After a few bites, she said, "Well, I don't see any shrimp, but it's still really good." But she then took a bite of the little cake at the bottom of the benny, and it was a shrimp cake.
I like a sweeter breakfast, so I went with the cinnamon roll French toast. I've had cinnamon roll French toast and cinnamon roll pancakes at other places, and they're usually just the standard pancake or French toast with extra cinnamon, maybe some icing, and maybe made with a different bread. Not here! This was obviously a cinnamon roll, sliced, and crisped in a pan. The toppings were also excellent. Again, I like sweet breakfast, but my wife many times finds things I like to be too sweet. This was perfectly in the middle. I felt like every single bite had enough sweetness, and I never reached for the syrup. The fruit on top balanced well with the sweet roll.
But honestly, the two things that stood out to me were my wife's shrimp cakes and my scrambled eggs. There isn't a restaurant in town where I don't salt and pepper my scrambled eggs. Or maybe hot sauce. Sometimes cheese. These (as you can see in the picture) look like standard eggs, but there is something in them. I didn't season the eggs at all, and they were so freaking good.
There was one item that I didn't care for, and that's the sausage that came with my meal. It wasn't bad, it was just different in a way that I didn't care for. It kind of tasted like either turkey or chicken sausage, but since I only ordered regular sausage, it wasn't what I was expecting. I finished them, but I'll get something different next time.
Last note: my wife got the drink that had champagne and Grand Marnier, and she said it...
Read moreI’m laying in bed with food poisoning as I type this. Before I get into my horrible experience here I would like to talk about the positive.
The only positive thing I have to say about my experience here was the service I received from the host and our server. Kylie was amazing and handled the situation perfectly. She was kind, thoughtful and caring when it came to me being served food that had clearly gone bad. Even before that she was attentive. Very knowledgeable on the questions we had over the menu. And overall a great server.
The host was friendly and helped me get seated quickly to feed my starving kiddo.
Now to the bad. I took a couple bites out of the food because normally even if I do not like what I order I eat it. I have anxiety about sending anything back and will usually pretend to like it. However today the food I received was inedible and I could tell the seafood had gone bad. The manager, Ebony, came out and I apologized profusely to her but told her there’s no way I can eat it, that it’s making me feel sick. She asked if I wanted to order anything else and I told her I wasn’t sure, I would look at the menu. Around 10 minutes passed and I started feeling really sick to my stomach. I told our server that I don’t want to order anything else because I’m feeling like I want to throw up and ask if I could get my check instead. She informed me that the manager took 50% off the food for me. I ask if I could speak to the manager again. The same manager comes out with an attitude and just stares at me and doesn’t speak. Finally after what feels like forever she ask what the problem is and I tell her how I’m not trying to be rude, how I work in the service industry myself and I really hate to be a bother. But I didn’t eat even close to half of my food and I am not going to pay for food that had clearly gone bad and gave me food poisoning. She’s giving me a dirty look the entire time I’m talking and she rudely replies with okay and walks off. Our server comes back over and ask me if I’m doing okay and offered to bring me a sprite to help settle my stomach and apologizes for this experience (one that was not her fault.)
I drove over 40 minutes to this restaurant because I came here a year ago and had a great experience. I wouldn’t have even been mad about getting food poisoning if the situation was handled properly because I understand accidents happen and I know what the restaurant industry is like. However, it was handled incredibly poorly by Ebony. And it takes one bad manager to ruin a restaurant.
P.S I had to beg the host to please seat my party of 3 before the third person arrived so that I could order food for my son, because management told the host she wasn’t allowed to seat anyone until their whole party arrived. My third person was 5 minutes out. The host was incredibly sweet and understanding. As soon as I sat down I ordered. Just another reflection on the pour management I...
Read moreWas really disappointed. There are so many great brunch options in the metro. It's mother's day and this was fairly close to the field we were at for a tournament so this is where we chose to go. Got on the waitlist that was 40- 1hr 10 min wait but it was well over that. Not a huge deal, it's a holiday and busy, it happens. The wait for food was extremely long. The wait isn't a problem of that was the only problem. After a super long wait with starving kids, the orders were wrong or missing items. Not minor issues, like... made the meal inedible. When they brought my daughter her missing sausage it was given abruptly and very burnt. The bacon smelled and had a burnt plastic taste to it. We had repeatedly ask for silverware and service. My husband's meal was the only consumable meal. Even with adjustments to the bill, I paid $40 for me and my girls to leave starving.
They have too many seats for the space so when they're full, it's like eating in a middle school cafeteria, so prepare to have to scream to talk to others at the table.
Make sure to check your plates and silverware because they aren't. 3 plates and a spoon had crud on them.
They're trying to go for this cozy Cafe look but the booth seats are ripped up, which should have been the first red flag. Took my kid to the bathroom and it was like if Joanna Gaines designed a trap house. Dirty, toilet paper rolls all over. Paper towels and toilet paper on the floor. Couldn't even refill the toilet paper in the bathroom, they just sat rolls on top of the holder like a 14 year old boy.
When they offered to make something else I had to refuse because the whole experience was awful. Though I didn't ask for her, the manager did come out to try to remedy it, but it was just not it.
Would have had a better experience at a cracker barrel. Happy...
