Slim Chickens — Restaurant in Overland Park

I'd love to love this place, but I don't. First, the good:

The chicken has always been tender and juicy, which is more than I can say for the nearby Zaxby's (which has so far only ever served me severely overcooked & dry strips).

They have unique sides and desserts that I don't see in other places. The potato salad is VERY good, and the fried peach pie is so good that I've actually gone to the restaurant just for that. GET IT. EAT IT. LIVE YOUR BEST LIFE.

Now the bad...

These strips are so sweet that the only sauce that doesn't compound the sweetness to the point that it's intolerable is the cayenne ranch. And even that isn't without its own sweetness.

There's no real breading or crust or anything. And yet they're not grilled strips. They're still fried. And since there's no substantial batter or breading to abate the oil, the strips I've had have always been quite oily.

The wait...oh god the wait... Slim Chickens joins other metro restaurants like Unforked in the new trend (???) of drive-thrus that are egregious in how slow they are. Why is there a drive-thru if you're going to spend upwards of 30 minutes in it if you hit it at just the right (haha) time?? It's ridiculous. Waiting in the restaurant isn't much better, but at least there you EXPECT to wait. But the drive-thru is for people on a schedule. I'm bewildered by this concept that drive-thru's are for people who have all the time in the world but just don't want to get out of their cars. So bizarre.

Speaking of that drive-thru... I went once during a rush (my bad, I guess...) and ordered the cayenne ranch chicken sandwich. It was a whole 20+ minutes before I made it to the window only to hear that they had run out of cayenne ranch... LOL I mean, how does that not get communicated to the person running the window? If you'll recall, the cayenne ranch is the only sauce I like with these strips, so I opted to simply go without, which was...uninspiring.

So overall, there are other chicken strips places I'd recommend over Slim Chickens, but YOU MUST GO EAT THAT PEACH PIE....

**Providing another update - noone has called me. No one refunded my money. Almost $300 down the drain. Can not say this enough, stay away from this place.

**TO PROVIDE ANOTHER UPDATE - THE DIRECTOR of the area promised to call me back on Monday SEPT 30th. They never did. I will continue to share this experience with everyone I know. Over $240 out of pocket for their error. NOT A SINGLE APOLOGY TO DATE. Not to mention RUINING a 2 year olds birthday party.

I would give zero stars.

We ordered food for our daughters 2 year old birthday party over a week in advance (and paid for it). 10 minutes before their scheduled arrival our order was cancelled - no warning no explanation, and NOONE WOULD ANSWER THE PHONE THERE. We called over a dozen times. Nothing.

Once this happened, we ordered food for all 30 people at the party location because Slim Chickens no showed. Then miraculously the order was "re confirmed" (again with NO COMMIUNICATION - still not answering the phone). Then completed the delivery 1 hour and 45 minutes late. The party was over. We double paid for food and now have a fridge full of 100 chicken strips we couldn't possibly eat.

Again, not a single person would answer or communicate with us. I will share this experience with...

Hello Slim Chickens

The Attitude of the slim chickens logo is so good.

The complete ambience is good like a proper retro type Caffe.

The food was so so yummy and quality too chicken is so fresh when we had it.

Items ordered

Chicken Fingers.

Chicken Tenders with Mango sauce.

Wrap with fries.

Farm salad with fried chicken.

Sandwich is yummy

Cool dips for each and every items it was so impressive and the best ranch I have ever had before.

You will get a free complimentary fountain drinks too.

Finally we concluded with their most important shake that is Red Velvet Oreo Shake.

It was so so so good I can live with it daily.

Let me share my crazy moment with you all why I considered this slim chickens, it’s beautiful that it automatically popped up while watching YouTube and we keep on talking about Red Velvet and Shakes and there you go slim chickens is superb

Also, A brownie jar with multiple ice cream at the end is a mind blowing items.
