Had one of the top 5 worst dining experiences here. First of all it was very crowded, so i guess its popular, but tables are jammed together and the noise level is anything but relaxing. Due to the crowds it understandably took a while for us to get pur order in with a nice young man who was really hustling. However, once our order was in, it took 30 min to get our food … while people who came in after us, but ordered breakfast items, got theirs much faster. If the food had been good it would have been worth the wait … but it wasnt. The fish in the fish and chips was overcooked, tough and dry and extremely salty. The fries were stone cold and hard. My husbands “ medium rate” steak tips were actually burned and the potatoes and beans were cold. To be fair the waiter did offer to let my husband order something else ( another z30 min?!) and at the end did take it off the bill. My husband didnt even eat it. My grandsons hamburger was ok, but his fries were also cold and overdone and tough. I also had a coupon that did not get taken off at the end, but we just wanted to get out of there, so i didnt bother hanging around to contest it. Hoping this was an isolated incident, but $40 for a hamburger, 2 horrible fish fillets and 2 glasses of soda… the pits.
I am happy to report that the manager of the diner did reach out to me and offered to make things right. Timing is wrong for us, but the diner was very crowded so i am hoping and assuming that this was just a glitch in their normal...
Read moreWe ordered from here about 2 weeks ago. When my husband got there to pick it up he noticed one of the meals was missing. He said the kitchen said oh yeah we forgot to make it. So he had to wait. In the meantime the other food got cold. When we got it all home, half the food was cold. The chocolate cake was thrown in with the hot food which then melted all over the place. I called and spoke to Jennifer, who told me she was the owner. She apologized and offered me 3 free meals anytime I wanted . So I held off on writing the review . Well tonight we decided to give them another chance and ordered our 3 “free” Meals. One would think that they would have tried extra hard since they knew the issues the first time. But Nope! Just as bad. We didn’t get the fries with the chicken tenders meal, The chicken tenders were over cooked and stringy and dry and the strawberry butter was asked to be left off the waffles as my kids don’t like it. But it was thrown in the container with no lid and melted all over the waffles. Well of course, the kids wouldn’t eat them. There were only about 5 tables occupied when I picked up the food. So it’s not that they were swamped. This is the last chance for this restaurant. There are so many other places in Oviedo that it’s just...
Read moreThere is such a thing as too attentive. Other than my waitress I had 3 other servers check in on me, to the point that they were asking questions that had already answered.
The main entree was okay but it's definitely missing something. Maybe some peppers and mushrooms? I had the Charlston grits entree and it's two deep fried grit paddies absolutely drowning in a cream sauce thick enough to mortar bricks with. There is shrimp and bacon and green onions. The sauce is good but again it feels like it is missing something. The grit cakes themselves are just bland but the sauce helps. Despite how I described it, it's not bad it just feels incomplete.
The restaurant itself is well appointed and clean. It's a little loud but not obnoxiously so.
Between the intrusive service and the men entree I was going to give it 3 stars. However, the apple cobbler I got turned out to be a star in and of itself. It was hot and fresh and absolutely delicious. I will come back here just for the dessert....
