Ichiban Japanese Steakhouse & Sushi Bar — Restaurant in Owasso

Alright, decided to try a different Japanese Hibachi Grill Steakhouse that is closer to home...First impression, was a nice building, and interior design is, well, just ok...Immediately went to restrooms, as that is how I initially judge a new restaurant...My thinking is if restrooms are dirty then I don't even.want to know what kitchen looks like...Restroom needed attention, but i wouldnt say messy, just needed attention...Firstly calcium buildup in the facilities, so which means they need to use delimer more often, and cleaning supplies should not be left in open...Decided that was not enough to keep me from eating there, so I went ahead and ordered...I started with a diet Dr. Pepper which was flat, and fried calamari as an appetizer...the calamari had too much batter on it making it too crunchy, and was dark like it had been over cooked or was cooked in old oil...took a bite and determined that the oil needed to definitely be changed, however the flavor was not that far away...Also had the chicken, the salmon, and the fillet mignon. For the main course...the steak was perfectly cooked and tasted decent...The chicken was also cooked perfectly, well seasoned and had an outstanding taste...The salmon also tasted well, however was dry, due to being over cooked on the hibachi grill...The chef definitely needs a refresher in cooking salmon...The lo-mein and fried rice were among the best I have had, very flavorful!!! The hibachi chef, was very entertaining and made every attempt to make the experience fun. The server also was exceptional and attentive!! I have visited this restaurant many times with no issues. However, tonight was the first time i have brought my entire family. My husband and I took our five kids after bragging about the food. The experience was awful. An hour into dining my husband and 5 kids food was brought to the table. My husband and oldest daughter order steak medium rare, it came to the table grey and cold. My 3 middle orders kids steak, and my youngest shrimp everything was ice cold! I’m not talking like left in the window cold, I’m talking been left out and tossed into the microwave for 2 mins cold. We spoke with our server who was extremely apologetic and embarrassed who went straight to the manager. Mind you..I still hadn’t received my food. A few minutes later a woman came over and apologized and asked what was going on. We explained and she said she was going to speak to the manager. When she came back so brought me a ticket for our drinks and 2 sushi rolls... I still hadn’t gotten my food. At no time did the manger take a moment to acknowledge the issue ( I understand it was busy but come on), the food was never offered to be replaced with fresh food. At this point I’m super annoyed. I proceeded to walk to the front and after a few minutes of explaining and trying to convince the manager that I was not paying for my $40 bills when I was having to leave and still feed my family, she finally said whatever I will write it off. Honestly, We would have been happy if the for an apology and our food replaced. I would have still happily paid for our food and said thank you.

If I could give this place a negative 10, I would. I’ve seen people who love this place so for my 21st birthday we decided to try it out. As we walked in there were tables open but they said it would be 10 mins so we waited. We were seated by the bar and the first thing we notice was how horribly dirty the place was. We didn’t have anyone even come ask for appetizers or drinks for over 10 mins. Our server was absolutely rude but we decided to stay and tough it out. We ordered appetizers and they were so bad I wouldn’t feed them to my dog. When I ordered a mixed drink he almost broke my id checking it and then loudly said it was fake and my DOB was wrong ( he was looking at the issue date) and snatched the id out of our hands. After finally getting our food it was warm (yes the raw fish was warm), the sushi was practically hot from sitting out. We went to the bathroom and it was so bad Walmart bathrooms after a long day of not cleaning them seemed better. We quickly paid and left, on the way out the server realized we didn’t tip and HARSHLY asked us if it was okay and was his service not up to our standards.
