We have eaten there 4 times since it opened. The first time on opening week the food was really really good, the server was friendly and took great care and all was well. The second time (because the first time was so good) 10 days after was mediocre at best. We did get the same server and he was wonderful as he was before but the food had lost something. Maybe it needed more seasoning or something. However saying that I was impressed with the sushi and the hibachi was very good as well. Cooked to order. Then again just a couple weeks ago thought weâd go again. The hibachi and sushi were good but all else seemed oily, partially cooked, cold food was warm and not to temp (deserts and salads) and lacked seasoning. Our server was the same gentleman again and as always he was superb. Finally we went once again tonight and it may be our last. The hot foods were warm not hot. The low country boil was cold and had zero seasoningâŚhavenât your cooks heard of old bay? The fried foods tasted like the oil was old and needed changed. The egg drop soup was oily and unseasoned. Do your cooks use salt at all? The sushi was good but there was no one at the hibachi. Also it seems the quality of food has consistently gone downhill. The beef is chewy, chicken fatty (yes chicken fatty) pork was jerky like. I do have to say however the crab rangoons have been and still are very good. They must be fried in different oil than dumplings, donuts and egg rolls. We thought we finally had a top notch Chinese/asian restaurant but you have fallen back to the mediocrity of all the rest of them. So sad, so...
Read moreWe went here as a group after a funeral on Monday. Everyone in the group was handicapped or disabled, or both. I live out of town but grew up near here.
I enjoyed the food immensely, but the atmosphere, the general welcoming feeling just was not there. The feeling wasn't hostile, just untrusting and mildly insulting.
Kai and JoJo were awesome. Kai came over and explained our bill after we were overcharged, (it seems seafood is extra) and gave us 15% off.
JoJo took our photo of the family. She waited patiently while everyone got in place and worked hard to get us a good photo.
But what will make me never go back was the older lady who came over to the table and said, "Who pay?" I told her that we weren't together and that we had not discussed that. She did not understand and repeated, "Who Pay?" but louder.
I knew she wasn't understanding me and I didn't know what language to try Google translate with and at that point my Father just got up and paid for the whole table.
I got one plate of chicken and rice and a bowl of wonton soup with a tea to drink with no refills. At a buffet.
Even with the superior customer service from Kai and JoJo, the #WhoPay lady was an embarrassment for the establishment.
Do yourself a favor and pay first, or if you just want one serving of something, don't go to a...
Read moreThe price is really good, however the taste of food is extremely uninspired. I wish all the Oxford/Anniston small business restaurants well, so I wanted to give some feedback I hope they take into account moving forward.
If Yokohama is the best sushi we have had in the south, this is the worst. There was a slight aftertaste, and the rice wasnât cooked properly. The general tsos/sesame were breaded properly and not overcooked, but the sauce was extremely plain. It was generic American Chinese fare, and Iâd say the owners try places like Lan Zhou to get an idea of a good recipe that even Americans would enjoy. Black pepper chicken should have more spice, people grab black pepper chicken expecting some level of heat. I also donât think cornstarch was used in the chickenâŚ. Which adds the crisp finish we want in a dish like that. Also if you guys arenât using MSG, Iâd add that too, we know itâs vilified for no good reason.
If food taste isnât front and center, I suspect this place will lose a lot of returning customers. Charge more money, work on QA, go research top restaurants on...
