At first glance, the dining area seemed a little... if-y. The ceiling was as black as pitch, the poorly lit areas, the dusty, unkept ornaments and decorations from another era. Only after sitting down, the environment grew more and more welcoming. My eyes adjusted to the soft lighting to set the mood for a feast. The bread rolls were made from scratch. An old family recipe I assume. The flavor of the dough revealed all with it's pure taste. Aromas brought a flashing wave of memories from a simpler time when grandmother served my cousins and I dinner; using a spoon and fork to wind up our spaghetti.
Gluttany plagued my mind. My thoughts were commandeered like a German blitzkrieg. The fetuccini! the ravioli! My brain was not going to come to a controlled landing. Damned if i do! damned if i don't! A bead of sweat trickled down forehead. Ringing in my ears grew louder and louder, I hesitated and in a split-second of passion the spaghetti whispered in my ear, "choose me and i shall show you true paradise."
Some time after ordering, Sophia my waitress carefully yet quickly walked to me clutching my dinner. she ever so gently set the spaghetti plate down on the table sliding it in front of me. My eyes were fixed, glazing downwards at 2 plump meatballs and a thick magma pool of spiced spaghetti sauce.
I coughed to clear my throat. My mind was astray for words. my eyes looked up. Sophia just nodded as if she were a queen giving the signal to me, her hooded executioner to drop the guillotine. she walked away as my eyes fell back down to my plate. An undertow of emotions held me hostage. I was happy, but intimidated, impoverished yet satisfied.
The following moments were a blur. it seemed as if reality had warped. everything up to that point gives a comatose feeling like a clouded first memory as a baby combined with the brief realization of the...
Read moreIt's our first time here. We're not local but we have our beach house here,So today we decided to give it a try and it's worth it. My husband got half spaghetti & beef ravioli with marinara sauce and I got linguini with clams sauce (White).Food might take a lil longer but it's worth to wait though,Pasta cooked perfect and the portion were huge! Both of our dish came with dinner salad and we chose Italian dressing. My husband like it but for me the dressing was too vinegary for me.The complimentary bread are warm and fresh and delicious! Staffs are nice and take good care of us. Are we coming back? Definitely! Next time we're around,This place is our new favorite go-to spot. By the way,It's hard to find beef ravioli anywhere now,Most places only do cheese ravioli but this place still have beef ravioli,So How...
Read moreGreat atmosphere and excellent service, although I was disappointed with the quality of the food. I hadthe chicken siciliana and although it didn't look that appealing it tasted ok. The sauteed mushrooms are not what I expected either. I was expecting whole mushrooms or mushrooms couldn't have and sauteed but they were sliced and chopped which made them unappealing. The side dish of pasta was just a little bowl of pasta with a little bit of sauce thrown over the top. The bread was good it appeared to be fresh.
My overall opinion this place has a great atmosphere and great service, but the food didn't live up to my expectations. I honestly think that this place is more of a takeout place, because it smell that look like the pizza was really good. Maybe next time I'll try it when...
