The food was VERY good! My pork steaks were VERY overcooked, but the Burbon sauce covering them was SO great that it did not matter to me. Hahaha
The broccoli and loaded mashed potatoes served with the meat were both fresh, hot and delicious.
My niece ordered the chicken tenders, batter dipped fries, and coleslaw. She gave me a few of her fries and a large chicken tender. The battered and fried chicken tenders were served hot and seasononed perfectly, as were the fries!!!
There was a generous portion of chicken tenders and fries on her plate. I believe that the chicken tenders AND the fries were the best I have ever eaten. Seriously. I have probably eaten 50 pounds of chicken tenders and 100 pounds of batter dipped fries in my lifetime. These were both blue ribbon quality! Top shelf food. Everyone else in our group ordered different hamburger and batter dipped fry combinations. Everyone said that their food was cery good.
The only complaint we had is that the waitress placed in charge of our table had WAY too many tables assigned to her. There were simply not enough watresses/waiters on hand to adequately do a good job attending to the tables. It was not overly crowded the night we were there as there were many empty tabes all around us. The restaurant was obviously understaffed. I never saw another waitress working other than our waitress all evening long; an impossible situation for her.
We were never visited again by our waitress after our food was finally served to us after a 45 minute wait. Nobody in our party even received a single refill on their iced tea, water, etc. once we served our one and only purchased drink for the rest of the night. I had to eat my meal with nothing to drink with it as my iced tea was consumed during our long wait for our food!
Of course our bill included an 18% tip, even though the service was sub-standard. I know this is not the waitresses fault, but I should not be forced to pay an 18% tip for sub-standard service!
I WILL give Big Whiskey's another try because the food was excellent. But if I get charged an involuntary 18% tip again for sub-standard service and I have to wait 45 minutes to be served my meal, I will never return to...
Read moreI had just ended a journey. A journey that taught me many things about life. A journey that taught me how to laugh. A journey that forced me to come to terms with one thing. I needed food. Not just any food. I need great food, the best food, food worthy of the gods themselves. With one journey ended it was time for another journey. A journey for food. I hoped on my 3 wheel motorcycle (thats two wheels in the back for those wondering) and I drove. I drove for days in the hot sun, through the cold mountains, then again in the hot sun. I stopped and asked many people about the food I was looking for. Some said it could only be made by chef monks in the mountains that have no name. Some said I would find my delicacy hidden underground somewhere between the Batcave and the earth's crust.
It was then that my phone buzzed. An email? The sender's name was unreadable. Written in some form of ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics. The email simply had a name. Big Whiskey's American Restaurant & Bar. As soon those words left my lips I knew I was heading in the right direction. I ditched the motorcycle with 3 wheels knowing it wouldnt be fast enough. I was so hyped up for this food I was able to run with the speed of the wind. I ran into the restaurant just as my shoes burned off of my feet. Thank goodness I wore my fireproof socks. Though that didnt last long as my first meal KNOCKED MY FIRE PROOF SOCKS OFF. After retrieving my fire proof socks I ordered a second meal and I couldnt believe my mouth. I dont speak taste bud but I'm sure they were telling me the second meal was even better than the first.
Ladies and gentlemen. Before you plan that vacation to the beach. Before you fly to that far away land. Before you decide to buy a new car. Take your money and head over to Big Whiskey's American Restaurant & Bar. If it doesn't change your life then...
Read moreThis review is almost as painful for me to make as the early dinner my husband and I just had here. Our server was Kaylee L and I'll list the problems we had below: 1.) we seated ourselves (as the sign up front told us to) and then sat there for a long time completely unnoticed. Eventually someone came up and told us they'd send our server over, and then we sat.... Again, for a REALLY long while until she finally came over and took our drink and appetizer order. 2.) After yet another long wait, she brought out drinks (forgetting one of my husband's, and not giving us any straws) we then asked for silverware and straws; and as she spun away to go get them, we called out after her about my husband's missing beverage. 3.) She came back with silverware and straws, but not the missing beverage. So she had to come back with that. 4.) It took absurdly long to get the food. 5.) Other than the side salad the food was not great. My husband said his wings were not as good as usual, and my fried pork chops were wet looking (I've had them before and they've never looked like this) and all the breading just slid off in a soggy pile. The mashed potatoes are just gross. They look greasy and taste odd. I'm assuming it's butter, but whatever it is isn't good. 6.) I noticed that there was what appeared to be lettuce sitting at the bottom of my drink. And when she brought me another to replace it she forgot my straw, again, despite specifically saying she'd be back with the drink and a new straw. 7.) Very awkward conversationalist. 8.) By the end it felt like she really just wanted us to leave.
OVERALL: It was not a good experience, there was hardly anybody there when we arrived because we went pretty early. Despite that, we received some of the WORST service we've ever had. It was almost as horrible as our experience...
