Oriental Gourmet — Restaurant in Pacific Grove

I took a vegetarian friend to this restaurant. She ordered a broccoli & asparagus dish after making the waitress aware that she was allergic to all animal products and verifying that the sauce was not to have any animal products in the sauce. The dish came swimming in gelatin (with gelatin bulks floating in the sauce), which is clearly an animal product. She took one tiny taste of broccoli and confirmed the dish was also tasteless. We returned it - virtually untouched. The owner was hanging around proudly, but never tried to come by our table or offer my guest anything in lieu--anything she could actually eat. I cannot describe how ashamed and dismayed I was to have taken my esteemed guest to a restaurant out of which she was to walk out hungry. Astonishingly, when the bill came, the dish was included and the poor waitress explained that the owner insisted on charging us for this returned dish. this is the first review i’ve ever wrote and i feel it is necessary.. we waited 30 minutes just to receive water, we needed a separate waitress to retake our order and then waited over an hour and a half for our food to come out. when it did, my friends order came out as fish instead of as steak like he ordered. it was super greasy and EXTREMELY hot to where we all burnt our tongues and one order was quite literally boiling while in front of us. our second waitress was a super sweet asian lady, but overall the experience was terrible. To me it seemed like the delivery/takeout service was prioritized over those in the restaurant. i would try to give them the benefit of the doubt and say that they were super busy, but there is only 6 people in the restaurant.. and there was a table of 6 who left when we got here and the table has not been cleaned after we left. we will not be coming back and i suggest the nice lady gets a new job, she looked very stressed probably from doing all the...

I love Oriental Gourmet! It is fast, affordable, consistent, and they even deliver! I have tried a few "Chinese food" restaurants in the area, all a bit disappointing, I had given up on them until I found this one on Eat24, it was a rainy Sunday evening, the food arrived warm and as promised.
