We enjoyed our time here. Learning about the history of the living on the river was eye opening. The section about the flood of 1937 was fascinating. An entire part of the nation's history about which I was completely ignorant. The model boats were very nice and the immersion with the period music at each station was lovely. The boat simulator was also very interesting. I enjoyed pretending to pilot a barge on the mighty Mississippi.
The only thing keeping this from being a five star review was the amount of exhibits that were being "refreshed." There were two or three "pardon our progress" exhibits and while that may not seem like a lot, the museum is already pretty small. Plus, the day we were there, the upstairs area was off limits due to a party or something. So we missed out on that, too. Overall, I learned some things and was entertained which is what museums should do. I felt it was a little pricey for the time it took us to walk through but if I had to do it all over...

We were told 2 different prices and when we asked about a group rate, it was higher then the normal rate. The woman we tried to make arrangements with was extremely rude. We were told to leave a voice mail for another employee that deals with group rates and she called right back with the higher price. Sadly our nonprofit summer program will not be visiting this summer. As an employee of a nonprofit, I find it very sad that another nonprofit would handle...
