The place was nice…at first I was a bit perturbed because there were several workers up front and each one kept asking how many of us were there and that we would be helped….then finally when they were waiting to seat us, they were trying to seat us in the back when there was an open booth near the front which is in the picture below. Me being the person I am, I do not like being hidden or tucked away in the back. I requested the empty booth and the hostess was accommodating. The food was okay, my husband liked the waffle, the kids liked the bacon, I however was not thrilled about the omelette. I ordered the Spanish omelette and unfortunately I had to request a side order of bacon because their omelette’s do not come with bacon or sausage like most breakfast restaurants. There did not appear to be any cheese inside of the omelette, instead it appeared to just be spicy title inside of it with a 1 slice of cheese on top of the omelette itself….🫤Then when I requested picante sauce, I was told they don’t have any. Which caught me by surprised, how do you have omelettes but not the option for the customers to have picante sauce with it 🤔. Instead I was offered Tabasco sauce and Cholula. The Hashbrown tasted old or overcooked. Either way, it was stiff and not the normal texture of hashbrowns (if that makes sense lol). I would recommend ordering their waffles...
Read moreDate of visit 11 Sep. We ordered an omelette, kids French toast, and the huevos rancheros. Service was quick and food was hot and good. Only criticism is with the rancheros there was no crust at all on the hash browns. Updating the review after looking at all of the pictures of other meals. Regarding the hash browns I want to say ICK! What I want in shredded hash browns is a solid crispy crust, not stirred and broken up. There was no browning or crisping at all and I see plenty of it in other reviews. As far as that goes (again the pictures) once you start to get that crust going why would you break it up like that? 14 Sep second visit, would have been better if we had skipped breakfast. Based on previous experience asked for the hash browns to be extra crispy and what got was two plates of potato stix. These people could not cook hash browns to save their lives. Had the country benedict the biscuit was underdone and gravy was bland. Customer in next booth had the and asked server when they had changed the gravy recipe because it was just flour and no seasoning. Wife had the spanish omelette the green chili peppers in it were so hot she couldn’t eat it. No warning in menu or from server about that. Another case of once the food is served good luck getting the...
Read moreMy friend and I were hungry while we were out and about in Pagosa Springs. He said Cafe Colorado had good breakfast food I would enjoy. Unfortunately, we were too late for breakfast and had to get lunch.
I was hoping for a veggie burger and fries. Lots of places these days have a veggie burger patty available and you can sub it for a beef patty on any burger. Not at Cafe Colorado.
I looked at the sandwich section of the menu. The only vegetarian option I saw was a grilled cheese sandwich, and that cost over $10! I don't know...$10 is a heck of a lot to spend on a grilled cheese sandwich.
I opted for the cheese enchiladas plate. I got two cheese enchiladas covered in shredded lettuce and diced tomatoes. The plate also included tortilla chips and whole pinto beans. I used the chips to scoop the beans, which were flavorful, but not too spicy. The enchiladas were good. It was a tasty, filling meal.
The restaurant was clean, and our server was accommodating and friendly. Cafe Colorado is a good place for Colorado...
