I just had a late lunch here--it was AWESOME!! I got my order to-go and immediately ate it in my truck out in their parking lot(so I could crank EDM while I ate)! I had two orders of their 3-piece chicken meals (both were dark meat orders and each came with a soft, fresh delicious biscuit), plus large sides of mac n cheese and onion rings along with a 1/2 pound of shrimp with sides of hot sauce, and a Mountain Dew! My total was $43. Everything was incredibly, spectacularly tasty as h-e-double hockey sticks!!! All the pieces of chicken were big, hot, fresh and crunchy!! Same thing for the shrimp and onion rings! The mac n cheese was probably the best I've ever had in the area too! Anyway, I would totally come back! I've actually been dining at this location since the '90s, so that's a testament to what a great Brown's location this one is, after all these decades! The young ladies who took my order and rung me up were both pleasant, professional and efficient! The gentleman who cooked up my chicken moved like a prize fighter in the background (he needs to create a clone army of himself so Brown's can take over the country)! The interior was nice and clean, plus they played great music overhead! I was craving Brown's all week long--glad I made it out here finally to cure...
Read moreSo this is only the second time we’ve had Brown’s and I fully understand why so many people who are native to Chicago have recommended it.
Their chicken is so lightly battered and crispy, not heavy (think grocery store chicken) or oily (most American fast food chicken places).
The seasoning is perfect, just the right amount of salt and nothing artificial. It has more southern chicken flare, but not all the heavy grease.
My Korean husband who was spoiled on Korean fried chicken totally agrees, this is one of the best fried chicken places we’ve experienced on this side of the world.
We also shared some sides and were equally impressed:
Mashed potatoes and gravy - sooooo good here, not at all the processed stuff you find in other shops.
Fried mushrooms- I saw a bunch of reviews about these. Totally recommend!
Mac & Cheese - pretty good, just needs a touch of seasoning.
What we also appreciate is that each time we have been to a Brown’s the chicken is made to order. It’s not sitting under a warming lamp in the back. This means it is always fresh in taste...
Read moreI’ve been here twice now, and I can say that this is some of the best fried chicken I’ve ever had. Crispy, tender, and delicious! Skip the KFC and come here instead. Pricing is reasonable (less than $10 for a 3 pc. meal). It’s a shame to see this chain struggling. This branch in Palatine is the best one I’ve been to. The owner is friendly and the place has a small but loyal customer base. Before you ask, this location is not the one where the 1993 Brown’s Chicken Massacre happened. That branch was permanently closed, demolished, and replaced by a Chase bank. Unfortunately, the tragedy really hurt the company. It left Brown’s Chicken stigmatized to this day and is the major reason why the company went bankrupt. If more people would just give this place a chance I think it might save...
