El Chicanito Bakery — Restaurant in Palatine Township

I've been going to this bakery for years, and recently, I've had the worst experience with this bakery and am highly disappointed. I recently bought some tamales and the meat in them wasn't cooked properly. I gave them another chance, and then my tamales were hard, and then the whole flan that I bought after three days in my fridge it had the white fungus growing on top of it. I ended up taking it back today to show them that this was unacceptable. I literally got laughed at my face by the person who was working there tonight. I told her, "You know what? You lost a loyal customer, and I don't know what's currently happening with your business, but it sucks." I was hoping to get a proper response, but this lady didn't care, and I told her you can keep that flan and the money I paid for an old flan that has been sitting on your fridge since who knows when and even though I wasn't offered a new one or a refund I did not ask for it. A decent person would've offered, and I wasn't going to stand there and argue and be a "Karen." I don't know if it's under new management since past year, but I can assure you you'll never...

This place is disappointment in my opinion im a frequent customer. I came from far to buy some bread. I came 2 minutes before closing and the cashier had already closed. Placed my tamale order last night and I picked up the freshest ever just made this morning tamales. I ordered pork, pepper/cheese, and sweet pineapple. Each type is delicious, moist, and full of distinct flavor. You will not be disappointed. And the service made the visit all the more pleasant. Authentic tamales and English is spoken too....
