Mixed Experience at the New Palatine IHOP – Great for Delivery, Terrible for Dine-In**
I recently tried the new IHOP in Palatine twice—first via delivery and then dining in—and the experiences were night and day.
Delivery (5/5): Ordering online through the IHOP website (using my gift card) was smooth, and my food arrived quickly via DoorDash. Everything was hot, fresh, and exactly as expected. No complaints at all!
Dine-In (1/5): Unfortunately, my in-restaurant experience was one of the worst I’ve had in a long time. The service was disorganized, and our server—who seemed new and poorly trained—struggled with basic tasks. Here’s what went wrong: Ordering Issues: He didn’t know how to input our order correctly, leading to mistakes (we ordered the Fisherman’s Platter but only received a partial, incorrect fish platter). Coupon Problems: He couldn’t apply my free short-stack pancake coupon and had to get help, causing delays. Missing & Incorrect Items: We had to repeatedly ask for basics like napkins, butter, creamer, and water (which he only brought one glass of at first). Food Quality: The fish from the Fisherman’s Platter was overcooked and served in a bowl without tartar sauce. When we asked for sauce, we were told they ran out (!). The shrimp plate was initially taken away, then brought back with a "you can eat this while you wait" response—very odd.
The only positives? The rest of the food (aside from the fish) was hot and tasted good, matching the quality of my delivery order.
Final Thoughts: If you’re craving IHOP in Palatine, stick to delivery or to-go orders. The dine-in experience was a mess—understaffed, undertrained, and frustrating. Hopefully, management improves training soon, because this location has potential if...
Read moreHello everyone 👋. Christina here. If I was a guest I would rate this place a negative 10! This place over works there employees. I opened this store with given title “assistant manager” and some how needed up as a server. With no doubt I still busted my behind for this store. Later on given the title “crew chief” but still underpayed and missing hours on my check not once but twice. (I’m sure it will happen with my last check as well) I left a good paying job to be OVERWORKED UNDERPAYED AND MOST OF ALL LIED TO. The owner is rude, extremely disrespectful and judgmental to ALL of his employees. He sits all hours of the day in the back booth and demands down the necks of all staff. Not to mention, The staff is extremely unorganized. If you stepped in the kitchen you’d think twice about eating here. No one cleans the fridges, they use expired product to cook with because the owner is on an “EXTREMLY tight budget” and refuses to throw away any food. I’m not a mad ex employee trying to get revenge. I’m simply giving my sad experience with a greedy franchise that should re evaluate their poor decisions and actions. I will never support such a horrible...
Read moreI am not a fan of IHOP. They never seem clean to me. The Palatine store is different. Very clean, plenty of attentive servers. I had only one problem. I got ripped off! I had ordered the Strawberry Cheese Cake Waffle. I asked, point blank. If there is strawberry on the cheese cake mousse. I was told no so I ordered my waffle and asked for bananas instead of strawberries since I am allergic. Now, some places cannot accommodate my allergies and I always have a second choice ready. I received my waffle with about half a sliced banana on top with a dollop of whipped cream. No cheesecake mousse. I asked (toward the end of the meal) if the mousse is mixed b/c I could not taste it. I was told there is pieces of strawberry in the mousse. They never told me and never asked if I wanted some else. Then, when the check came I was charged for a Strawberry Cheesecake Waffle and all I got was a plain waffle. When I mentioned it I told I was only charged for the plain waffle. Granted, it was about a $1.50 difference, but it's the principle. Sorry if the sounds petty hate being lied to and...
