I visited Morkes for the first time, September 16, 2023. The shop from the parking lot reminded me of a mystical little cottage š” deep in a forested š³š³ area in northern Ireland š®šŖ. The outside architecture is so unique and quaint. Like a begoning appeal to enter. Really liked that feeling. š¤
When you enter the front door of unique wood, not sterile metal stuff you find an inner room like found in old homes. I beleive they called them a sitting room. No seats just a neat from the outside before entering. Cheery historical pictures and floral decorations. Very cottagie!
Now the shop!. Another dimension I say! A emporium of all things sweet! Chocolates of all types and sizes, donuts, pastries and frozen stuff. Creatively assembled packages of confectionary delights adorned the main tabled areas all in chololate themes. You really need at least an hour to fully grasp the main floor intensity. Why they even have off the east side cash register a comfy sitting area with 2 sets of cafe style chairs and tables complete with WiFi services. How neat is that.
Morkes delivers locally. We plan to have them send 1lb. chocolate sampler box and a Morke made B-Day card to our irreplaceable daughter-in-law in Aurora, IL. How accommodating is that!
I am greeted by a the most wonderful friendly happy Maria š©āš³. Your are now far from the madding crowds. Maria is bubbly happy. Now you're also happy. She is Italiano. With our nationalities in synch we started a relationship that will last a lifetime. She provided the grand tour. The shop decorations, colours and floor/shelf displays were breathe taken. The entire store is decieving. Small from the outside. Large in the inside. If you're a Doctor Who Whovian then this is like a TARDIS. The shop has areas off the main floor that can accomodate small social gatherings and a rear outside sitdown space.
Maria helped me with a birthday gift box for our grand-daughter who is in University. What a box it was. Five lbs. of heaven.
And the grand kicker of it all. COFFEE! . They make blends that one would question "Why am I patronizing StarBucks?". Morkes batista's use only unique coffee āļø š products, fresher than fresh ingredients, and made with ā¤ļø. Not being a coffee aficionado they made for my wife a PeanutButter Dark Chocolate blend. My wife was presented this at home and was ecstatic. "I never tasted coffee like this" she stated. And to top it all off the aromatics filled the living room. This amazed me the most.
MORKES is a rare find. I am so glad my trusty steed, our awesome Lincoln SUV sort of took me there. Enjoy your Life. Patronize Morkes. You will not regret it.

Ā Ā Ā Read moreTried this place for the first time today after hearing so many good reviews on great tasting chocolate and āthe best donutsā unfortunately I have to almost strongly disagreed. We got quite the mix of items today and honestly, I think maybe only one or two things were good out of everything the donuts are I hate to say it probably on the bottom of the list of good tasting donuts that we have ever had . one that we got was an original which was completely drenched in chocolate and it was terrible and we couldnāt even eat it . the other one had peanuts on it and covered in chocolate that unfortunately wasnāt good. The third one was kind of an old fashion donut with icing ⦠was not a bad the but still blah Another was a chocolate long John, same chocolate as on the original donut. Not very good and then a vanilla long John not good chocolate at all for that either .
The milk chocolate covered graham cracker almost broke my tooth, so thatās definitely a no ⦠weāre super excited to try the pixies but unfortunately that wasnāt good. And the Carmel cluster with cashew just so blandā¦
Overall the milk chocolate just isnāt that good and honestly Dunkinā Donuts has better donuts sorry but itās true. This place just doesnāt even come close to river side chocolate factory in mchenry . Do yourself a favor and go there . Hard pass for...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThey should be called Morkes Chocolates & Donuts. First, the store is filled with every kind of chocolate creation under the sun from pretzels covered in white, dark or milk chocolate to pecan puppets which are like Pixies on steroids. Their caramel apples are worth a try too. They also have chocolate making parties which are a blast for kids' birthday parties and for adults that want to become more involved in candy making. Then, if that isn't enough for you, there are the donuts. They have both cake and yeast raised varieties that can be covered in just about anything. Maple frosted with bacon is worth a try along with whatever their flavor of the month is like blueberry, strawberry, banana or cider spice depending on the season. My favorite by far is when they fresh dip a maple frosted for me right there on the spot. If you are anywhere near Palatine, IL do yourself a favor and stop in. You will be...
