My great aunt loves Baklava, and there isn't a place around her that serves it. When I found this little gem in Palestine, I decided I had to stop in and grab some to send home with my parents for her.
We walked in and were pleasantly greeted by a lovely lady named Lyla, (my apologies if I spelled it incorrectly.) I was impressed with the slew of toppings and fresh ingredients at the counter for the shawarma wraps. Though my stomach wanted to eat everything I was looking at, my mission was strictly dessert driven.
The baklava counter had several different types of delicacies to choose from. Mrs. Lyla walked me through the differences of each baklava type and what flavors and textures I should expect with each selection. Though I wanted to try them all, I chose a small walnut baklava that comes in a set of two, and a triangular chopped pistachio baklava. Mrs. Lyla was incredibly helpful and so kind! I was blown away by her customer service and the conversation that we had that followed my purchase. She separated my sweets into three different containers at my request as we were all going in different directions, and even recommended a store for me to visit where I live in DFW where I could find Mediterranean and Arabic goodies at. (Thank you for that, by the way!)
The baklava was AMAZING! I haven't had this dessert in fifteen years, and it was more delicious than I remembered. The phyllo dough was drenched in a delicious sugar syrup and the layers of it were almost too beautiful to eat. The nuts between the layers of phyllo were plentiful and chopped so fine, like little nuggets of love between the layers. I loved the pistachio baklava, but the walnut baklava was my favorite. There were so many flavor notes in each of them!
I was thrilled to expose my parents to a cuisine that they would otherwise never get to try. My dad is a red-blooded-american-meat-and-potatoes guy and has never tried any Mediterranean food before. His experience was as follows: "That walnut baklava's got a flavor kinda similar to peanut butter but way more delicious and different. Maybe exotic is the right word? It's unlike anything I've ever tried in 63 years! The pistachio one was great too! I can't even put my finger on how to describe that one, you just gotta go in and taste it. I really enjoyed that, it was something different than what we're used to in a good way. We gotta stop there again next time we meet!"
I am so looking forward to stopping back by and getting one of those divine looking shawarma wraps, (just the sauce list to top the wraps made my mouth water!) and trying the rest of the delicacies in the case. I also want to take a moment to recognize Mrs. Lyla for her incredible spirit, and her hospitality. She took my visit from great to outstanding! It is rare that you find someone in customer service that has such a bright light that shines so strongly, and she was the highlight of my experience. Thank you, Pita Hut, for an amazing dessert, being brave enough to extend your culture to the countryside, and for choosing people that are so kind to represent your establishment. It made all the difference! We will most...
Read moreWhen this place first opened up I was extremely excited. It lived up to my expectations. Fresh ingredients so I didn’t mind paying the high price. Now everything about this Pita Hut in Palestine has gone down hill. No options for fresh authentic Greek toppings. Bad olives, bad pickled vegetables, wilted lettuce and slimy tomatoes. Usually those things wouldn’t make me upset but paying $17 for one rice bowel with those quality of toppings makes me upset. The customer service is horrible as well. Both female and newer male staff that I’ve seen there are rude and stingy with toppings but charge extra for them. They talk on their phones while serving you extremely loudly and sing loudly as well. Also have an attitude anytime I ask for more of anything. Pita Hut needs to turn it back around or they’ll end up closed down with all of the other failed attempts of restaurants...

So happy to be able to be one of the first posting about this AMAZING new option in Palestine!
My Wife and I stopped here before they were even open (didn't see the sign lol) and from the start the owners were amazingly kind and courteous! We came back on opening day and we got pita with gyro and a chicken shawerma and then baklava and frozen yogurt and when I say everything is amazing, it's an understatement. Everything is INCREDIBLE! Add to that the kindness and attentiveness of everyone there and you end up with a place that you shouldn't miss!
We came to the conclusion that this place is SUPER dangerous in all the right ways and I promise you will as well! We look forward to enjoying Pita Hut often and for a...
