Since moving to the new location, we've order ToGo once, and it wasn't very good. (At that point, they weren't doing dine in.) We didn't go back for a very long time. Today I decided to give it another try after hearing great things about others' experiences. Staff was friendly. Place looked cleaned. No bad smells like some of the places in that shopping center. I had high hopes. I ordered the steak hibachi exactly the way I used to order it at the other location. It was overly salty, but otherwise tasted ok. I was very disappointed that they no longer have egg, peas, or carrots in the fried rice, and no longer have carrots in the vegetable mix. I have always ordered the veggies without the mushrooms and zucchini, and ask that they just put in extra carrots and/or broccoli instead. All I got was rice with no veggies or egg, steak, and a small amount of broccoli with onions. I ordered my food off the the lunch menu during the lunch menu time frame. I thought perhaps the portion of broccoli was small because the lunch portion is smaller on purpose. I asked the server about the missing veggies, and he said they just don't make it the same way anymore, but if I ask for carrots in the veggie mix, they will add them. I did say I wanted carrots, but didn't get them. I had to wait quite a while for my food, despite there only being 1 other person in the restaurant when I arrived. Someone did come over and apologize for the delay, which I appreciated. That same lady came back when I was only about halfway done with my food and left the ticket and a fortune cookie. She didn't ask if I needed anything else or anything. Just showed up with the bill and left it on the table. Although she said to take my time, it came off as her hurrying me up. As I had patiently waited on my food to be made, and it took longer than it should have, I was a little offended. I bit my tongue. My daughter joined me and would have ordered food, but saw that I already had my check. She decoto just go elsewhere. I was absolutely insulted though when I realized that I had been charged for the more expensive dinner menu rather than the lunch menu...after having to wait so long for my food and getting less food than I asked for! They had already been yelled at by the other patron because he had to wait to pay his check because no one was in the front of house. He had been rather rude about it and yelled out that either someone come take his money or he was leaving without paying. By that time there were more customers. Everyone was gawking at what was happening. All of the other tables were regular customers, and were clearly treated better than those of us who weren't. Not really sure if I want to go somewhere where I am...
Read moreAsian City Hibachi Grill actually represents its name well. There are 4 bar type seating areas that are placed around the grill where you can watch the food being grilled right before you. The entire show that you might find at a Benihana's is present with the spatula bouncing, knife work, and all. They will even toss pieces of the food into your mouth right off the grill....if you can catch it. Each one of the grills have its own vent hoods, so there was very little smoke/steam in the building. They also had 4 table that were not around a grill for those that did not want the whole show. All in all it appeared that they could seat roughly 30-40 people comfortably. They even had hot chai tea. The glasses that were used for drinks (soft drinks and iced tea) were real glass. Although they did not have it on the menu, they had fried wanton chips with sweet and sour sauce that was rich and thick (not watered down like some places is). The menu offered items such as General Tso's chicken (which I had and was not that spicy, but had a lot of sauce...enough to even cover the rice which was served in a bowl on the side), Hunan Beef, Sweet and Sour chicken, and other basic Chinese cuisine items. In addition, they had Hibachi items such as steak, shrimp, chicken, etc. They even grill/fry the rice on the grill when ordering a Hibachi meal. I ate during the lunch time and got the General Tso's chicken with rice and soup for $5.99. Chopsticks were available upon request, even training one which were pre-tied with a rubber band for those that do not know how to use them. Upon receiving the check, it did come with a fortune cookie (one of the better tasting ones). The bathrooms were decently clean, but old looking. Overall, I will definitely come back here...
Read moreStaff were extremely friendly and helpful. Sat in the dining room instead of the grill area and it was a nice, relaxed area without loud music or loud people.
Ordered the General Tso's Chicken. Very satisfied with the portions and overall flavor, but somewhat disappointed by the lack of spiciness despite the indication on the menu that it would be a spicy dish. Miso soup, while not something I particularly enjoy, was still pretty good.
We also ordered the Rock and Roll sushi roll. It was made fresh and the flavor was exceptional. Even my grandmother declared it was the best sushi she had ever eaten (although shes not much of a fan of sushi.)
The real standout for me, however, was the taro milk tea with popping boba. I ordered it with unsweet tea for a reduction in sugar content and it was very delicious. The price for the milk tea was a bit high (around $5) for the amount you get, but it is still something I will go back for from...
