I want to preface this by saying that I almost never write reviews, but given the fact that this experience was so frustratingly mediocre that I considered complaining to get my order comped, I have to make an exception. First of all, our server was honestly great; seemed like she had been stuck in this place for years and just tried to make the most of it. That's where the positives mostly stop. The appetizers were fine, though it's kind of hard to mess up garlic bread and if you do, rethink your career. That said, the entrees were beyond disappointing; the chicken you could tell was bought in frozen, as it tasted like a microwaved chicken nugget from a certain golden arched fast food establishment, while the "sauce" that was used was an extremely acidic, almost sickening tomato substance which was most likely from a can and wasn't even reduced properly as it still had literal water just pooling in spots on the plate. As someone who cooks for a living and loves the craft, I would be embarrassed to even fathom the thought of giving what we received away to a dog, much less charging a real live human being actual money for it. It's shameful and honestly disgusting that people care so little about the quality of what they cook for other people. That or they just genuinely don't have their own taste buds and think it's good, in which case, please take it from me that it is not. We will not be back, and I will tell literally everyone I know never to come here. I am not sorry. Actually, no I am. Sorry I ever stepped foot in this place. Be better, please. For...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWent to dinner with our family visiting from Ohio; mother, father, sister, grandma, and grandpa. I ordered a stromboli with pepperoni, mozzarella, and added roasted peppers. My sister ordered a calzone with mozzarella and ricotta, and my grandma ordered a stromboli with pepperoni and mozzarella. After we waited for a half hour my stromboli came out missing the roasted red peppers, my grandma's stromboli was correct, but my sister's calzone had my roasted peppers. We informed the waitress that my order and my sister's order was wrong, she apologized profusely and offered to have them remade. After waiting another 30 min; in which time everyone but me got to finish their meal; my stromboli finally came out correct with pepperoni, mozzarella, and roasted peppers. My wife asked to speak with the manager and informed her of the issues. The manager, who we later found out was the owner, offered her apology and a whole 10% off of our $20 bill. We will not be returning. The waitress was great and very nice, but the kitchen and the owner needs some training in how to properly address issues and take care of...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreGiovanni's is a beloved, local Italian-American restaurant that should not be missed if you're looking for big, full plates of honest, homestyle cooking that satisfies the spirit, as well as the body. š
The menu items are classic renditions of traditional trattorias/pizzerias that you'll find all across the US northeast. Dishes like eggplant, chicken and veal Milanesa and Parmesan and thin, crispy pizzas are the mainstays of a menu that includes so many more pasta, fish and baked dishes.
Finally, it's worth noting that the restaurant, while clean and we'll kept, has that vintage Italian restaurant look to it. The only things missing are the red-and-white, checked tablecloths and straw-braided jugs of wine. š
Also, the staff are free absolute best! They're always friendly, helpful and professional. I've never had a bad experience here.
So, if you're looking for Italian-American comfort food and a homey, comfortable atmosphere with a warm, welcoming staff, then this...
