Birthday dinner 12/18/2021 I must say my husband and I was quite disappointed in our experience at Capital Grille. I took him there for his birthday ( recommendations from my boss who swore his soul by this place) looking for a great time. Unfortunately our experience was nothing of the sort. I placed reservations online and also spoke with a staff member to see of there were any accommodations for Birthdays. I was told yes, a table with decorations (I did receive that and a personal handwritten birthday card which we both thought was cute and personable), a complimentary dessert accompanied by a birthday song (we got the dessert but no song which is traditional for us and one of the reasons I chose this place). We were seated by the restroom entrance and there was so much traffic until my husband was annoyed (rightfully so, his chair was bumped several times) we asked to move and they sat us in a booth which was more intimate and we were pleased. Our waitress was very professional in appearance and had a pleasant tone (which is most likely why we chose to stay) but she didn't come around much. We got our appetizers super late (though it was really good). We felt pretty abandoned in this beautiful restaurant and made up our minds to pay for what we had and leave. It's insane that we knew what we wanted to order but had no waitress to place our order for about 30min if not more. When we finally had the opportunity to place our order we were debating if we wanted to stay. Again, our waitress was so sweet we said the heck with it we are here so we may as well eat. I'm not sure how long the food took because we were both in disbelief of how our special night is not feeling so special. We were trying to make excuses for the lack of service but there were none. Because we don't like to complain we painfully set through dinner and started timing how many people were serviced before we saw our waitress again. My fish was not great at all but the mash potatoes were amazing. My husband tried to smile through his meal but the atmosphere was such a downer that he wasn't really himself. After dinner I was excited that at least there would be a Happy birthday song, (one that I record every year a since our first date at every nice restaurant we attend) epic fail. No birthday song just a "happy birthday" and walked away. I was shocked and 1000% disappointed and upset. I did tip her $30 because she was pleasant (whenever she was around). We don't like to complain so we didn't. We just walked out extremely disappointed and I feel like I owe him a better experience. I wish I could say I would recommend this place but with the experience we had I can't. Maybe everyone had a long day, I'm not sure but we...
Read moreIf you're looking for a review about a fine dining restaurant, I'll say this... Palm Beach offers a tremendous selection of high-end restaurants and in my opinion, this one is one of the best. No one chooses to eat at the Capital grille because it's a bargain, you choose to eat there because the food is exceptional and the staff is quite literally the best in the business. That leads me to my actual review...
I travel all over the country hosting talks on finance for groups up to 30, we select the Capital grille whenever possible. I had never used this particular location so I was extremely nervous because these events cost us nearly $20,000, which is a considerable amount if things aren't done just so. Any concern that I had was immediately resolved within the first 20 minutes that I showed up. Please understand that I showed up an hour and a half early to see the facility and meet the staff. They are as professional as any Wall Street firm that I have ever dealt with, probably more so. You wouldn't think that the staff plays a vital role in these types of events but you would be wrong. Even though our invitations and reservations are triple verified, and people are instructed to be their on time, you'll always have six people show up a half an hour late and if not handled properly the people who did show up on time will be very agitated that they've been waiting for 45 minutes. The staff at the Capitol grill worked so smoothly with our guests it was almost fun to watch. By the time everyone had arrived, everyone was eating hors d'oeuvres, drinking cocktails, and leisurely enjoying the evening. All of the appetizers were brought out and they hadn't even taken the orders yet for dinner. The reality is, the staff at the Capitol grille in Palm Beach set the stage so that all I had to do was walk out and talk for a half an hour and I was done. They are the special effects that make a movie mind-blowing versus a good story. These guys are the best, we will go back to Palm Beach because of this restaurant. Their managers are truly professionals, there professionalism trickles down into the staff and they are all worthy of praise. Even watching the bartender masterfully create every imaginable type of ridiculous cocktail that our guests ordered was impressive. All in all, whether you're considering this place for a corporate event or just dinner with your friends, you will love the...
Read moreImpressive! Probably the best "gourmet" cheeseburger I ever tasted. Their signature lunch burger is easily a ¾" meat patty topped with a slice of white cheese. 2 firm slices of tomatoes, crisp leaf lettuce, several large slices of ½ dill pickles on a "very" fresh bun. Could not possibly eat this burger without a fork and knife, not to mention a load of mayonnaise. The first bite said it all, "wow" that's really good! You literally stop and you can't help to think and try to place it in relevance to the best burger you've ever had. The second bite just complimented the first. My only criticism which is my fault was ordering a medium-rare, not expecting such a huge burger left the center of the burger rare. But that was an opportunity to really unmask the quality of the meat. My impression was that the meat was ground twice and seasoned slightly before grilling, giving the distinct impression that you were biting into a filet mignon burger. Yes, it was that good. By now you've got to be asking why the reason I gave a 4 star. It was not for the exceptional professional service or for their immaculate decor, but for the fact that my wife is a vegetarian, we asked the server if they offered a veggie dish. (Yes I know, what, are you doing ordering a vegetarian meal at a restaurant that has the word "Grille" in its name). We were expecting a plant-based burger, but instead received what looked like a promising appetizing looking plate consisting of tender asparagus, but (this is where they lost a star) practically uncooked fibery brussels sprouts and two generous slices of grilled, absolutely "tasteless" tofu. Disappointing, considering the enormous success the restaurant industry received since they've introduced plant-based substitutes, there is no legitimate reason for not having it on their menu. Until they do I'm only going to be left with the memory of having the best...
