El Pollo Colorao Puerto Rican Eatery — Restaurant in Palm Coast

This is the third time I have written a review on this restaurant. We have been visiting this restaurant since 2018. I gave it five stars at the time. It was our favorite restaurant in Palm Coast and we ordered many times and were very happy with the food. My last review review went to two stars. We haven't been back in quite sometime and decided to give this restaurant another chance. Sadly, my review went to one star; it has gone down hill even more. I am really shocked at how the quality of the food has gone down at this restaurant. Yesterday, my husband and I got the chicken, rice and beans dinner. The chicken was the most over-cooked chicken I have probably encounter at a restaurant ever. It was dried out, including the drum stick; some parts of the chicken were that over cooked that the meat was actually hard. The rice was a gross and a greasy mess. The rice had absorbed the oil/grease and was dark; it did not even look appetizing and tasted just as bad. Even the beans were dried out and had no moisture what so ever. We threw out most of the rice and beans; it was just to unappetizing to eat. We will not be returning to this restaurant; that is sad because in 2018 this was our favorite restaurant in Palm Coast. Response to owner: Chicken would NOT dry out in a half an hour! The rice would not become gray and saturated with fat either in that time if prepared properly. Many times in the past, we had leftovers and the rice was fine and was not grease saturated. I don't know if the same people are operating this restaurant that operated it in the past; but, some thing significant has changed at this restaurant. Sadly, it was not...

If I could give zero stars for this establishment, I would- went here with a friend who had positive experiences in the past- I was immediately unimpressed by the atmosphere and the wait time for the food. Most of all, though, I was mindblown by the overall rude and inexcusable behavior of one particular employee. My friend ordered a $14 meal (and even tipped the cashier) which included a side and a beverage. When the food was finally ready, she asked for extra sauce & was given a look/sigh, as if she'd asked for his right arm. He forgot her beverage, was reminded, and removed a bottled water from the cooler. My friend asked if she could please substitute with a Sprite. This had never been an issue in the past. She was told that only water came with the meal! Please. She offered to pay for a Sprite, and politely gave him an extra $2.50 (for a can), and he had the nerve to remove her bottled water which was included in the meal! Unreal. I asked him to please give her the water that was paid for, as she not only overpaid for this lunch, but bought an EXTRA beverage (and tipped him prior to this inexcusable behavior!) We exited the store, and discovered in the car that she'd forgotten her soda. Not one person informed her of the oversight, or brought it out (as any decent employee would under such circumstances). The restaurant was not even busy. I have worked in the restaurant industry in years past, and I wondered what happened to common courtesy? Or, how about the customer always being right? Save your $$$, or try a different restaurant if you desire Latin cuisine. NO ME GUSTA - YO PREFIERO MELINA'S...

My husband and I look for places to go eat at through town and found this amazing place! Hubby misses pinchos from Puerto Rico so we stopped in to see what they had to offer. I can not express how amazing every bit of our meals were. Guava BBQ chicken was to die for. It's sweet flavor made the juicy chicken taste absolutely heavenly. Our yellow rice was cooked to perfection and literally brought my heart back home with flavor. Yucca was smooth and flavorful. We got dessert and my new found love emerged! I have not had flan that good in years! The pumpkin flan was delicious but the regular couldn't have gotten any more heavenly. I have not cleaned my plate bare while eating out in a very long time until today. I enjoyed every bit of my meal because it was perfect! We showed up after 430pm and while other places have given us modest/so so service because it's too close to closing time... not this place. It was nothing but great service, amazing food and kindness from the gentleman there. I can't wait to try every item on their menu and I'm sure this is going to be our go to place! Good food changes your day. I 100% recommend trying...
