We almost didn't stop here. It looked like a typical neighborhood dive bar. However, the glowing reviews made us open the door. We're glad we went in. Nothing fancy here. A bar, stools and booths. But the joint was clean and inviting.
Service was fast, jovial, and professional. I'm not one for craft beers. The waitress brought three little samples over to try. Excellent move on her part. My wild redhead ordered a Sin City Cider on tap and I a Kona Longboard. Both served in proper pint scoop glasses and ice cold.
The burgers are what everyone raves about and it's with good reason. We ordered a Breakfast Burger, Brisket Burger, fries and onion rings. Our orders arrived in under 10 minutes. The aroma of fresh cooked burgers is intoxicating.
Both burgers were ordered medium and cooked exactly as expected. Large, fresh buns, with lettuce, tomato, and pickles as accoutrements.
The Breakfast burger added a fresh cooked egg and bacon, while the Brisket burger added slabs of tender brisket. Both were delightful. For the first time ever I didn't need any ketchup, mayo, mustard, or other taste changing condiments. Bravo!
The fries were large-cut with a light seasoning and very tasty. The star was the onion rings with a light, flaky, and super-crispy batter. One of the best onion rings I've had. I really didn't want to share any with my other half, but she threatened to jam fork in my eye. The rings are served with Dog Sauce, a wonderful spicy mayo sauce.
Sitting in a run-of-the-mill strip mall, The Brown Dog is a gem to behold. One of the best burgers I've had in a long, long time. You won't be...
Read moreFirst time visiting after living here for 3 years. The food is amazing! I ordered a whiskey glaze burger, cooked medium. Normally when asked how I want my burger cooked I laugh to myself because it always comes out well done, regardless of how I order it. This burger was cooked PERFECTLY! To make things even better, the whiskey glaze wasn't drowning the burger or oozing out the sides when I squeezed it. There was enough for flavor, and still be manageable. I was very impressed!
We had an appetizer of fried onion pedals with their "brown dog sauce" and it was delicious!! The sauce is similar to what other restaurants offer with their fried onions which I believe is a mix of ketchup, mayo and some seasoning for flavor. Now that Chili's stopped offering onion pedals, this will be our go-to when we get that itch. They also offer corn nuggets which we didn't try this time, but we will be back to try another time!!
The drink selection is fantastic! They have beers of every type and flavor, and then some. They have IPA's, stouts, porters and exotics from local breweries and imports alike.
Tldr: amazing food cooked perfectly, great drink selection. About to...
Read moreUnfortunately, I would have given this place 5/5 stars if it was not for the very unprofessional women that greeted us when we came in. We had a large party that we all happened to want to catch up for lunch. One person from our party suggested the brown dog because the food was good and it was an easy meet up spot. I’ve never been to this place until today, but as soon as we got inside… the lady behind the bar started yelling at us telling us that next time we need to call to ensure they have enough staff and that there was only one cook because the other cook had to leave on an emergency. I understand things happen and we asked if they wanted us to leave…. Instead that same lady stormed off and thankfully the lady that was actually our waitress was nicer. There were only 2 people at the bar and one table of 5 men that were finishing up their meals. It was a very awkward experience after that. The food was great. But I will not be back. If the lady didn’t yell at us and actually spoke to us like humans… I would consider giving this place another chance. I understand people have bad days, but don’t take it out...
